looks a little dented.
Remove it, bang it out if you want. Use FIPG to seal it and don't over tighten the bolts, torque them to spec. -------------------- |

I am not an expert in engine installation but I would recommend to inspect, remove and clean out intake manifold and any other item that you need before putting it back so you dont have to pull it while it is in the engine, unless there is some reason you would want to install it as is and try to fire it.

Is there any baffling there that would prevent me from knocking it out? Thats what I plan on doing. There's no was I would throw in an engine from ebay without tearing it down and checking everything haha this sucks only being able to work on it on the weekends... -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

If you have some vacation time, now would be a good time to use it.

IIRC the baffling is on the belt side, that side should be open.

I hear you about the work! I would work a few hours on the engine every night provided you work day hours.
Question: What kind of HP these engine produce? These are made for Toyota by Yamaha so I assume these were performance engines? ( I don't know much about these engines) This post has been edited by msk59: Feb 16, 2015 - 9:48 PM |

They're like 197 hp with a manual. Think of it as Toyota's answer to the B18C5 in the Integra Type-R, but they never used it over in the U.S. because of lame excuses like the trouble of having it meet emissions etc...

I hear you about the work! I would work a few hours on the engine every night provided you work day hours. I would if I could. I live and work in Maryland and the car/engine is up in PA I think next weekend I am going to bring back the wiring harness with me so I have something to do. Got some coilover covers from ISC Suspension thanks to Gear One Performance Also got the HKS MAF pipe today ![]() -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

i don't personaly know but people say the HKS isn't the best. especially for the picky sensor on the beams intake.

It's not the sensor that's picky, it's the ecu that is.

please get the fujita or apexi cone filter. tons better than that crappy hks one yes, because HKS would design such a crappy filter... Yes. Just google how crappy hks is. Bad at filtration. And the foam deteriorates with time. Airflow not the best too. Several forums have adressed this. Just because its toyota or ford dont mean they recall crap all the time. People think just because its hks, its gold. Always research. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... ANYWAYS....
I called TEIN to check in on my overhaul since it should have been done a week ago or so. Apparently they didnt get the payment I sent them over a month ago and never notified me or anything of the sort. They are going to check some things to see what happened on their end and then call me back. All I know is that I am want some damn reimbursement for the time that was wasted waiting for these things to be done and now I will have to wait another month -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

took out the cams, safc and intake to sell
![]() then took on some more things off of the engine ![]() cylinder no.4 valves are a little wet and the spark plug was missing, Im not sure what methods importers use for storing engines but that could be the cause of that. ![]() the harness is off and I am deciding now If I want to extend it or cut a hole through the fire wall with and use a mil spec connector if I was feeling frisky I would love to rewire the harness like this. ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |
