I have a 1995 Celica GT with a weird noise when driving.
It sounds like loose stones / plastic bag caught underneath the car. It also dissapears when I turn left, so loading up the O/S/F suspension. I have jacked up the corner and there is no play in the wheel bearing / drive shaft, but I have found a ring, that is situated between the hub and the C.V. joint and it has a 'lip' that goes towards the C.V. joint with a gap between the 5 and 7 o'clock position that moves around, but on the near side it is fixed to the hub and does not move. I have managed to move it slightly and the noise it makes is suspiciously the same as when I am driving. Does anyone know what this ring / shime is? Does anyone know how it is secured tot the hub housing? |
