I've decided to replace the oil pump-to block gasket while I'm doing all the timing belt stuff. To do that I have to drop the oil pan. But at the moment the oil pan is sitting on a jack, supporting the engine. So:
1. Can I just re-install the pass side engine mount temporarily, will that give me enough room to get the oil pump out and in? Or do I need to hang the engine from a hoist? 2. Can I drop the oil pan enough without taking out the member? I think I can get to all the bolts. 3. Does Toyota sell an oil pan gasket? Shop manual shows using RTV, but that would be a bit tricky to do in place without taking down the member and oil pan. A real gasket I think I can fish in there. Thanks guys. |

sorry bro, its FIPG only on the oil pan. and yes you have to drop the pan to get the pump off.
