my nephew just bought a tibby in atl area, the owner forgot to mention the clutch was going.

so here is my dilemma, I'm not looking for performance right now, just need to ride the car. i can help, as i did the celica.

1. where can I find a how to
2. and I need good oem replaement. advance auto parts has it, is it good. Its made by perfection

perfectionclutch.com/clutch.html any good?

3. can the flywheel be resurfaced, where can i find a good oem replacement if not.

the tibby is a v6 with the 5 speed tranny.

anny input is appreciated.

ill try to search google, but I'm desperate as the clutch is slipping bad and burning.

A machine shop in the area can take care of your flywheel resurfacing Just look in the yellow pages.

The clutches at most auto store are just clutches to get you going, no performance whatsoever some even give you a lifetime warranty. If you don't abuse it and rag on it you should be fine.

This link EBAY
Gives you a Clutch Kit, Flywheel, and everything you need for $425 shipped. But its on ebay and seems to be a major brand.

Lemon law doesn't apply to things that wear out - clutches, brakes, fluids...

This is something that can easily be caught by someone knowledgeable in cars test driving it.

I got a new clutch from autozone when i did my swap (decided last minute i wanted a new clutch and it was instock), it was $165 and although its in a duralast box it was all made by Valeo, its a very smooth stock feel, lifetime warranty...good replacement for the stocker.....

the only thing i have to say is that i remember they did a clutch swap on the v6 tib and it was a PITA soo get something good now, dont do it twice.

i love this site, i got more responses here than in new tiburon.

well i drove the car for like 1 min, and never bothered to push it. but we picked it up when we got home the next day.

the flywheel is a dual mass, so people say that it cannot be resurfaced. i am looking at a couple of kits off ebay now, especially the f1 chromoly and the valeo

Make sure you double check the circumference if your shopping on eBay. Some people like to put down stuff that aren't the right size and try to sell you a POS clutch kit. If it looks to good to be cheap its prob a POS and don't get anything that is a Stage 3 clutch or beyond, its a pain in the ass to drive with everyday.

the clutch is in and tranny is in.

I am never buying one of these, difficult to work with.

To get the tranny down, you have to lower the whole subframe. WTF.

I stick with toyotas, they are more fun. specially my celi.
