I've now read some writeups on getting a turbo on a 3s-ge, and it seems more expensive than a 3s-gte swap.
However, I haven't seen any writeups on changing a 3s-ge for a 3s-gte. (does anyone know one?) What I was curious about, is, can I swap the engine, use the existing wire looming and just replace the ECU for a GT4 ECU? (I know, i need to have a new exhaust manifold and a turbo as well). Or do I need to do some extensive rewiring? Also, if I increase the fuel injectors (and the rail), do I need to replace the (3s-ge)fuel pump and fit a fuel regulator? If yes, what pressure should I set the fuel regulator if I were to install, say 550cc injectors? As for waste gates and blow off valves, I believe blow off valves are illegal for road use in the UK, so if I want to fit a 3s-gte with turbo, I would have to have an internal waste gate. Do all turbo's have internal waste gates, or are there some without? In addition, the waste gate actuator, how is this one controlled? Would I need to use a boost controller for this? Camn it manually be set? Sorry for all the questions, but since I know next to nothing about fitting turbos, I want to make sure I do it right, so I don't blow an engine on the first trial run... |
