Havn't been able to find a answer to this one. When i take off in 1st at about 2000RPM the vehicle shakes violently, but continues to move forward, stops after about 3 seconds. When i say shake, its more like the car is jumping off the ground and slamming back down within seconds of it self. I assumed it was the clutch slipping. Clutch is brand new though =(

What i have been doing to make it not do so, is get her going slowly let the clutch fully engage drop down to about 1000rpm, and its fine if i do it that way, no shakes at all. Doesn't do it either if pop the clutch and take off, only on progressive take off. Sounds more to be vehicle error then driver error, but ya never know. Any idea guys?

Not sure on the clutch type, it was "new" when i purchased the vehicle 3 months ago. Works fine in every other gear...

Wheel hop could possible be it, i've never felt shakes that violent before in a vehicle....

...wheel hop?

in an ST?

I would start inspecting motor mounts and stuff too. I have no idea really, but I'd just start looking for anything.

ah, missed the whole ST part. well, my gt wheel hops like crazy from 1400 launches so a 2000 launch from a 1.8 sounds possible....

i just intalled my exedy organice stage 1 clutch. if i took of fairly slow the car would shake more than normal. This has gone away now that i have about 800 on the new clutch. my cars tires were moving forward and backward really fast if i would slowly release the clutch. but the clutch disk is spring loaded, so that was the reason why it was doing this. but sounds like your cars shaking alot.. but i have no clue what that could be

Thats exactly what it is doing Bonzai, i've put about 5k on it though. Someone outside the forums mentioned they might have done the clutch but not the bearing..

sounds like wheel hop, look into firm motor mounts and firm control arm bushings.

on the stock 14's that lil 1.8 is plenty capable of spinning them "thin" economy tires when just gunning it from about 2k rpm (not clutch kicking it, just from what torque it has)

i would say is most likely your problem. like bitter said, new bushings n mounts should make that car tighten up like new :thumbsup

Mine does that sometimes when it I am in heavy L.A. traffic but seems to work ok. My clutch and tranny are very old though.

7afe has about 75-80% of its torque built by 2000 RPM, peaks around 2500-2800 RPM, its a good undersquare engine.

if it isnt wheel hop, its oil contamination on the clutch disk. that is actually common when the rear main seal is leaking bad.

isn't some clutch chatter normal on performance flywheel and clutch?

I have the same exact problem on my GT. Takeoff at 1000rpm is fine, takeoff at 3000rpm is fine, either slipping or dumping the clutch. Normal takeoff at 2000rpm is real jerky. The tires aren't spinning, I'm not hearing that. It's almost like the clutch grabs too fast and bogs the engine, then lets go and repeats the cycle.

Haven't figured it out yet, but the engine mounts are fine. Don't know the state of the clutch or how old, but contaminated clutch sounds possible. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

See if you can have someone watch you take off from outside the car, to see if the wheels are spinning or jerking or maybe neither.

clutch contamination sounds right to me too....but if it was wouldnt it do it at other shifts and at higher rpms too?..........it seems to only do it at a stop and go in first gear right? rotate your wheels.....make sure you have manual tranny fluid in ur tranny maybe its low after the new clutch was put in.......are maybe like 808 says us not timing ur clutch and gas right
