It was a sad day to everyone and I hope we can remember it forever. Jim lost his cousin that he was very close to she was pregnant and worked in the WTC. I think its a good time to share stories and videos and remember this day together.

I know people say they never forgot what they were doing at that moment so even sharing that moment with us would be really sweet.

I was skipping school because it was picture day. I was riding around and hear Russ Par joke about it... Then the 2nd plane hit. Went to buddy's house and watched the Pentagon get hit..... Went to DC with my mom that afternoon to help the burn victims because shes an RN. Took one of her coworkers along. Sad day. One of my uncles was supposed to be working in the twin towers that day, but thankfully his work rerouted him to Dallas the night before.

I was in 5th grade class, and I remember thinking that it was just a 1 or 2 passenger plane when I first heard the news, before the TV was turned on.

I was getting ready for school and hear my dad say "o my god" and turn and see the 2nd tower get hit...

My best wishes go out for anyone who lost someone on that day.

I was in my office with a recruiter on the phone like every other real american man [well not really simultaneously but I made that phone call before I left my office that day]
IMO we should still be raining tac nukes every year on this day all over the sand but I won't go [any further] there.
Nice thread Shannon - sorry for your loss bro.

In spanish class, trying to figure out a way to ask my teacher out on a date bc she was hot. Our principal comes on the intercom and says everyone tune in to cnn.. and there we see the awful tragedy that was 9/11. My uncle worked a couple buildings away.. I thank God nothing happened to him. To be honest, I think its a tragedy that we Americans have to wait for something like 9/11 to occur before we all come together. I think we need to make better efforts into changing the world we live in.. its only getting worse. I just think we need to respect people, their views and different cultures and not spend sooo much time judging. Thats really the main cause of terrorist activity, if everyone respected each other, 9/11 would not exist. If i could have one wish come true, it would that someday another great leader will stand up against hate, racism, and terrorism and end the corruption in this world. Because I really dont want a repeat of what happened, what if my uncle was in that building? I dont know how I would take it.. I still feel for all those who lost love ones 8 years later.

Everyone has opinions....... some should be gone about with a little more tact or knowledge/thought process before being spouted. This thread is about 9/11, not your obvious racial/regional profiling. Thanks. There's lots a of crazies and terrorist that have come from the U.S. as well, many saying they are Christian. Just remember that when you spew stuff like that next time.

Me I was home from school sick watching the news with my mom so we were just in shock. Where I lived a little bit down the road u can see the skyline so we drove and just could see the smoke. I was calling Jim for a few days but he wasn't answering and finally he called me and told me what happen and he was just really upset. We were only dating a few months then so it was the first time something so traumatic happened. The interesting part is the day Jim and I first met was Helen's wedding.(his cousin)

I think its so amazing and so beautiful how it really affected everyone around the whole country....it was so close to home here that its just nice to see people from all different places sharing there thoughts and feelings.

Me I was trying to get some dome from this one chick and I thought it was a tv joke at first, then my friend's phone was ringing off the hook! I still think the government was behind it as I have NOT heard of anyone in the Pentagon hurt, injured, or any deaths reported, plus after watching those "Conspiracy" videos, they just happened to mention that where the plane supposedly hit on that Pentagon, was a renovated area... Wow... the odds of that.. pffttt.

Believe what ya want man, I went that afternoon up there. You could see the smoke from the Pentagon from my house in VA. There were lots of burn victims. May have been a conspiracy and been the gov't, no one really knows.... There was a plane(or what appeared to be) still inside the Pentagon, on fire. There were lots of burn victims there. It was kind of crazy.

x2 - sorry to clutter your thread with my opinion [I'll edit it for you if you want - not because others don't agree]
I'd be happy to very informatively debate any of this with any one of you off the site where it belongs.
This thread is for remembrance.

my dad was a fdny for 20 years, he knew 10 guys from his fire house who died. Really sad part was his lieutenant who died in 9-11 was suppose to retire the next day, it was his last day on the job. If my dad didn't decide to retire in 1999 when he did, he would have been in there and would have most likely died. God bless all who died and helped in 9-11. We went and visited the site that january after it happened, i remember walking up to it and they wouldn't let anyone in and there were big white roll away gates block it. my dad just flashed his badge and we all went it. I was surprised to find that there was actually a fire house located right next to it. We went in and you wouldn't believe all the donations that were there, there a 6ft by 6ft box of oreos and ritz crackers i kid you not. we then went onto the roof which was a sub level off the sleeping quarters which went up next to where we were another 3-4 stores. We had to wear hard hats because they were cleaning out the buildings, sweeping out the debris from the towers and big chunks of metal and cement would fall around us. The front had a big metal statue with flags and candles. It was very depressing. If i can get my scanner to work ill scan the pictures we took and post them up here. I was in 6th grade so I look weird but w.e. My aunt was also a few buildings down she said it was chaos when it fell, she took shelter in the subway i believe i never really asked her but she said you couldn't see 2 ft infront of you and it was extremely hard to breathe.

I was in San Diego, 3 days from graduation from Marine Corps Boot Camp. They got 75 of us in a tiny little office just in time for me to hold the antenna up and see the second tower get hit. They completely locked the base down, nobody in or out. They told all of us that we were straight to the sand after combat school. my family (and ex-fiance, well, then girlfriend) were getting ready to fly out of lincoln, just starting the takeoff progress, then the reparked and unloaded the plane, and my grandparents got stuck in Denver for a couple days. nobody was able to make it for my graduation. On thursday night, the 13th, they said families could get on base if they had their recruits SS# and platoon information. We had, at the time, the largest company ever to go through san diego, and the smallest crowd in the history of the recruit depot. pretty miserable.
