hey guys, thinking of purchasing an st205 GT4...
was considering the R33 skyline but when I saw the GT4 sitting there it just amazed me...

I've been reading up on them for the past few hours(specs, differences, etc)

what I am worried about is finding parts...the engine seems more or less the same across all GT4s which means I am assuming that the ALLTRAC engine/transmission parts could be used if i needed to replace a part...

what about the rest of the car? like brakepads/rotors, control arms, cv joints, bearings, etc all those other things that might need to be replaced due to the age of the car(or if they break at any time)...

are most parts interchangeable with 6g celicas? like FWD models that were released in north america?

I know i haven't searched alot(been only reading for a few hours today, before that i have never done any research on celicas in general as I've always been a nissan driver/fan)...but just wanted to know the answer to the above...

basically if the parts are NOT interchangeable(most parts, not just engine/tranny), then I may be beter off getting the R33 skyline due to the fact that my friend is a nissan mech and i've got a few friends with R32 skylines and parts for those cars seem to be readily available locally...

thanks for the help guys

brake pads are the same as supra twin turbo 93-98 pads, about suspension the only parts that will be hard to find ( actually expensive but that hard ) are the front 8 figures, but rear suspension ( bushings ) are the same across 5th and 6th gen GT4, so dealer would work, there is also some aftermarket options out there,. parts are not that hard to find for it anymore for this side of the world, so if that's what's stoping you go get it.

the front suspension is different on GT4 to FWD, but you can get them in US ( coilovers ) sway bars ( rear ) is the same as 5th gen and so are the bushings, wheel bearing are the same, there are aftermarket bushings to rebuilt your control arm so no need to replace them, same thing for motor mounts ( also available at dealer )

damn... that sounds good..i'm so happy the parts are readily available...but damn...i gotta do more research, cuz I gotta read up on common problems, see how strong the tranny is, what to look for when buying it, etc...

i'm gonna inspect the car VERY thoroughly as I would any car, but gonna have to find specific things known(I guess look in australian/europe forums as they were sold there?)

I'm still deciding between the R33 skyline GTS-T and the GT4...

to be honest, the R33 looks sleek and cleaner...the GT4 just looks aggressive...
I'm leaning towards the GT4 though since AWD is good for these winters...

I'll have to wait until Thursday anyway, so i'm gonna have to do alot of reading on these forums lol

thanks for the info guys!

WAT??? NO WAI!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading > you

He said he's looking at a GTS-T. So where did you get GTR?

OP - if your choices are a GTS-T and a GT-Four I would say go GT-Four, just because of the AWD.

If it were a GTR Vs GT-Four I would say GTR without question, but I'm sure at that point they wouldn't even be in the same price range.

ok i'm pretty sure i'm gonna grab the GT4 lol...

reason 1: the GTS-T stock looks pretty fugly...and in order to put a GTR front end, would have to replace the front fenders, hood, bumper and modify/change the hinges and put spacers on the fenders/headlights AND paint it all if I don't get the same colour...too much work just for looks.

reason 2: the R33 GTR isn't legal in Canada yet...another 6 months or so...I don't have this patience...I just sold my 350z a few days ago...gonna have to start taking the bus soon*cringes*

and bytheway...I like RWD better than AWD....which is why i was considering the GTS-T...

BUTTTTT.....after seeing the car again(it is white biggrin.gif), it just looks so badass...and i was watching youtube videos all day...

the GT4 looks pretty awkward in pictures...but in video and in person it just looks amazing...

oh and everyone i've shown the car pics to have told me it looks like a hyundai tiburon lol...

but yea, I am gonna test drive the GT4s(they've got 3 in their lot I believe) as well as the R33s just in case...

I've got two friends coming with me who have RHD vehicles as well(an R32 and a GTi-R) so we'll see what we like...

If i grab the GT4, I plan to put on a lip kit asap as that is what's needed to complete the look in my opinion!
i'll probably look for clear lenses as well and retrofit the headlights as I have a pair of mercedes projectors sitting around from my WRX retrofit...

anyway, i have to wait until thursday as i'm working every day until then and the dealership closes before I can get there(other end of the city)

I plan to go there and test-drive it, thoroughly inspect it, bring a jack with me, and if I like it I'll pay them cash and drive it home(they sell as is, so no registration or anything), will be bringing my licence plates and insurance papers(my insurance company covers me on any new cars purchased for two weeks)

thanks alot guys, i'm gonna go see one in another city tomorrow~~

have the day off and will be bussing tonight with a friend!!!

I'm actually looking at three cars there: they've got 5 GT4s(at least 3 are WRC based on engine pics), an automatic twin turbo supra, and an R33 skyline GTS-T...i'm leaning towards the GT4 or the supra...

obviously i'm gonna have to inspect each car and see the condition...I talked to the people on the phoen today and was pretty specific in my questions in terms of condition of the car...

but of course they all said "excellent" condition...but I got specific so hopefully they weren't just pulling things out of their ass...

and if all is well...I'll be driving home lol
