I read this post from another forum:

A while ago i got the exhaust done on the car, i already had headers on it and had a new apexi muffler for it so the shop just cut everything else out and pretty much straight piped it. Being that it was so free-flowing with no air restriction I lost TON of low end power. i decided to take it back to the shop to see what they could do(mainly becuase it sounded like someone farting on a snare drum) and they slapped the biggest glasspack in the middle of the pipe and that toned down fart and restored the low end power.

Is this true? I have a hi-flow cat, opened 2.5" exhaust piping, performance resonator, and performance exhaust muffler, and header. I noticed a low end loss as well and want it back. Is this an option or do I already basically have this done? By the way, mine doesn't have a 'fart' noise, it sounds pretty bassy and throaty.

restored some of the back pressure and probably got back some torque

your set up is fine for an exhaust system if you want more power or torque time to do other engine mods

your 5sfe doesnt flow enough exhaust anywhere in its powerband to use a 2.5" exhaust fully. try 2.25" or 2" and let us know how the engine feels.

you'd need some bigass cams and a head ported all to hell with a standalone to run it. judging by his 100whp dyno, he has none of that.

but it is a good exhaust for a 5sfte set up

as for n/a bitter is correct if you dont plan on doing mods go back to 2" or 2.25" to regain your loss of power

I will be installing webcams soon, they have been ordered and I do plan on tuning the the car afterward. Should I still go back to a 2" set up? What about supertrap exhaust? Would that help at all?
