I read this post from another forum:
A while ago i got the exhaust done on the car, i already had headers on it and had a new apexi muffler for it so the shop just cut everything else out and pretty much straight piped it. Being that it was so free-flowing with no air restriction I lost TON of low end power. i decided to take it back to the shop to see what they could do(mainly becuase it sounded like someone farting on a snare drum) and they slapped the biggest glasspack in the middle of the pipe and that toned down fart and restored the low end power. Is this true? I have a hi-flow cat, opened 2.5" exhaust piping, performance resonator, and performance exhaust muffler, and header. I noticed a low end loss as well and want it back. Is this an option or do I already basically have this done? By the way, mine doesn't have a 'fart' noise, it sounds pretty bassy and throaty.
