Ok so some of you know, ive been having problems getting my 5sfe to start. Thanks to all of you, i was able to find the source of the problem. Im just not sure how to fix it. Heres the deal, there are two connector plugs off of my distributor. one has four wires, the other has two. It looks like the two wire connector puts power into the coil. One wire for power, one wire for ground (of course). With a test light on the power wire, i will have power for a few minutes, and then it cuts out. i tried getting into the wire harness alittle bit, hoping the ground wire and power wire were somehow touching each other somewhere under the throttle body, but the problem is still there. Its very weird. Literally one minute my test light will read power off of that little wire, and the next minute its gone. When that wire stays hot, the engine starts. So this is the root of the problem. First off, does anyone know where the other end of those two wires is? Seems like if they are touching somewhere, i could just run two wires from where they start up to the distributor. What else could be causing this"? and what would i have to do to fix it?

i only have one plug on the distributor but mines a 99. the wires should go straight to the ecu, when i first got my car i kept getting cam sensor codes and if i touched the connector by the ecu the car would shut off. it just ended up being loose conncectons.

hmmm, so im wondering if the wire is either split somewhere in the harness, or the connector loose at the ecu. Id have to find the wire at the ecu first. Any idea where it is

not sure which wire it is. it could be a short in the harness you would have to take off the covering and trace the wires back

if it is a short in the harness, would it be just those two wires? if so couldnt i just find where that wire goes, and cut it off before the harness, and run a fresh wire up to the coil?
