Like Random_Stranger said, letting your car bounce off the rev limiter is no worse than redlining in every single gear. The rev limiter is there to protect your engine. The thing about the 5S though, why would you let it rev that far? In my own personal experience, and I'm sure there are a great many people on here who agree with me, after a certian point the motor just loses power. I never drive my GT all the way to redline. It accelerates quicker if you shift early and let it rev in the meat of the power band. Then again, I haven't driven my car that hard in a long time. Just change your oil a little more often and you should be fine. haha thats not good for your car either... just because it can go to redline doesn't mean you should do it... its like saying... well slamming on the brakes and skidding and then dropping my clutch and taking off at every redlight is ok cause my car can do it... yes it can do it but you shouldn't all the time... you're beating up on critical engine parts... bouncing off the rev limiter once or twice isn't going to hurt a thing... thats why its there... doing it consistently is a recipe for blowing up your engine -------------------- Breaking Axles...

I just know i still got another 1700 ![]() The 5sfe is noted to have connecting rod bolts that are only about 5/16 diameter which is a little on the small size for an engine like this, because of the small diameter of the bolts they tend to stretch under high load(rpms) which can occasionally cause an engine with a few miles on it to spin a rod bearing. I've heard of this happening to several people even with the stock 6200 rpm rev limiter in place. |
