So I thought some of you may be interested in this. In an angry hour of writing, I decided to write down my feelings and experiences with these two entities. Enjoy.

First it was Internet Relay Chat
Then it was Instant Messenger
Then it was Texting
Then it was Facebook/Myspace/Friendster/Etc.
Then people stopped talking face to face altogether
Then people started committing suicide over what someone said on their blog site
Then people outgrew all of it (just like they outgrew tetris, rubic's cube, yoyo's tamaguchi etc) and switched to a new novelty that has yet to come out.

The ONLY cool thing about Santa Cruz is the ocean at night. When your jogging along side it with the moon reflecting off the waves; its the greatest sensation of serenity.

Santa Cruz is a terrible city to go to if your expecting big corporate "wow" factor like universal studios. But if you enjoy old school feel and a charm of a small town then you will love santa cruz. I had some of the best burritos in my life in those small restaurants there.

Sorry if i generalized your feelings towards Santa Cruz, I felt you went to the boardwalk and expected great entertainment. The boardwalk is a terrible place to go as a tourist, to fully enjoy santa cruz you need a local to take you places away from the "attractions."

Some of the things I did at Santa Cruz was go eat at the wharf, bbq on the beach, and just hang around with a big group of friends trying new restaurants.

And you cant go to santa cruz during the winter, its crazy cold there. Best time to go is during the spring where it gets hot and the cool ocean balances it off.

About facebook, I actually like facebook's lack of customization. The part that i hated about myspace was people copying codes and "customizing" there webpages to look cool and unique. With facebook, its my personality that attracts people. I share photos an videos of myself with friends and they are the ones that actually view my profile. The reason I get on facebook is not to meet new people, but to keep connected with friends and family i don't have the luxury to see everyday. I can updated my status with a stupid joke i came up with and my entire friends list can laugh and tell me how lame my joke was, its all part of the fun.

^ haha well Hanyo, that's we were are two different beings. You enjoy Santa Cruz, and I have consistently been disappointed with this towns attitude towards "outsiders" and people in general. You enjoy the simplicity of Facebook, and I not so much. I enjoy creating things in a somewhat unique way.

Its great you enjoy them, and I am happy for you that you enjoy them.

In reality I don't hate either all that much, I just wanted to get all of my great complaints written so that I can just point and click instead of trying to list everytime. Plus I am sure many people either laughed with me as I wrote them. smile.gif

Man, just be grateful you don't live in my city or in the Central Valley, it blows here, people are unfriendly and wanna act hard, and the girls? ppffttt, they got issues man for real. You come down here and spend a day man, then you will learn to appreciate where you live.

And that is why during my senior year in college we routinely went into hilly billy places all wearing the same shirt that read "you live in a weird town"

You hit the point on the nail though. When you get away from metropolitan areas (like 50 miles or so)... its almost like visiting other country

Haha, I have some great stories about why I will never ever visit your town again. Eek, just thinking about them gives me the chilles smile.gif.

I live in Sac-town yo, I way super appreciate where I live and my 3 homies with whom I share the bills with. I don't really have love for my city, but I learned to appreciate the people after my encounters with the people of that place. Capitola, like I said, was one of my favorite places to be in California though, because that short drive makes a world of diference in the quality of people.

If you ever want a great place to meet friendly locals, check out a place Morro Bay, next to San Luis Obispo. Another top 10 place I would love to visit again.

Cool. I really liked West Los Angeles (Or is Brentwood completely different? That's where I liked), but I know I couldn't move out there any time soon.

Give yourself a few years, you may see things differently. When I was 21, I saw things differently than the way I do now that I'm 29. And when I was 16 I though I knew everything as well. But older I get, the more I see how truly ignorant (not stupid, mind you) I am.

Being from SoCal, I heard (from movies/TV/friends) that NorCal was the land of happy go-lucky people, tolerant of everything, and full of ex-hippies and the like. Then I moved here and found out that I missed SoCal because I felt that the people up here were snotty, arrogant, and pseudo-intellectuals. In fact, I feel that people down in SoCal are more "real" and down-to-earth than people up here.

Facebook was originally created for college alumni to keep in touch. If you didn't have an email address that ended in .edu, then you weren't allowed to join. But slowly, it got more popular and then it got commercial and finally it became mainstream. So as far as the lack of customization, Facebook was never created or intended to be that sort of a social network site.

The other day, a patient wanted her Zoloft early because she was doubling up because of the holidays. It seems like the holiday season has gotten some people into a worse mood...

^ lol well CAMAricer, I am well aware that I know only what my experience allows me to know. I think you view we in the northern part of California as the way you do because well... your in San Francisco. Don't get me wrong, thats where I was born and that is where I grew up a lot of my life, and I have mad love for that city... but I know the type of people that typically inhabit that place.

Its why I tell most people I am from San Jose, because many people understand the quality of people that inhabit San Francisco and I don't want to associate myself with that perception. There are many many good people to counteract the others, but the "real" people who live there are, by shear volume, silenced in contributing to the way people view them.

I am well aware of what Facebook was created for, and I am also aware that most people who use it are quite happy with the simplicity of it. I being 21 and well versed in computers and always interested in how to make things better just get frustrated with the seemingly lack of common sense in some ways of it. There are certain things that I use in Facebook and go "Damn, I wish they would of spent more time developing this to make it more logical and flowing."

I have no doubt that in a few years my perception of what I believe to be my world will alter in some way. Logically if I don't have some sort of major change in view, I am doing something wrong and need to re-evaluate my life because of my lack of growth. That being said, I am still 21 and find it to be (excuse my french) bull**** the way certain things are. It helps me personally when I just write this stuff out in a somewhat comical way to relieve what has been in my mind to write for quite some time now. I encourage as many people as I can to really express what it is that is inside of them because in a few short years, we are going to die. I encourage as many people to explore their surroundings, find out what makes it beautiful or terrible and express them. I want more people to vocalize their expressions because I have always felt that having these sensations outside the body rather then inside is a much healthier way of being and allows that person live more contemptly with what he/she has instead of having all of that rot inside of them and cause them to react to others while secrectly being angry with themselves.

But then again, thats just my 2 cents and I enjoy making people laugh with opinions smile.gif.
