Well lucky me I found an s54 locally for stupid cheap. Comes out of a 91 mr2....that is about where things started to go bad. It is for sure an s54 problem is the speedo sensor is gear driven and the celica is electric sensor driven. This happens to be like the only year mr2 tranny that has this issue. I'll take any and all suggestions as to how to fix this minus selling the trans.
Also not if you happen upon a good how to swap the shift linkage over tutorial that would be great. I have a whole major race team worth of fabrication shop and all so I think I can make this work. Just a matter of doing it. -------------------- 94 GT Liftback

swaping the linkage isn't too difficult, I believe presure2 will be along sometime with some advise, he's done it.
for the speed sensor, just remove the gear one (on the top of the tranny), unbolt it and pull it out - and put in the electronic one from a 6gen. Then just plug it in, easy as pie. -------------------- |

Yeah I finally figured out the plug and play on the sensor, the first pics I saw the electronic didn't have a gear. Problem is a 6th gen one is like $175 where as I can get an s53 for like free and only be 6% off. I need to calculate the change in the wheels and tires I put on the car and I might actually be kosher.
