Has anyone ever fitted a 3S-GE with a turbo (after market or otherwise)?
I have seen threads which suggest doing an engine swap to 3S-GTE and then install a turbo, but I don't want to do any engine swaps. Has anyone done this before? If so, what's the best way of working and what kits can I use?

throw a T into the title of an engine and that usually means turbo. in your case. 3s-ge is n\a you throw a turbo on it. its a 3s-gte.

Gen 3 3sge plus turbo yummy. Although I don't reccommend high boost. I read somewhere the rods can handle up to 400 horses. I say boost it with about 6 psi with a solid standealone. Also get rid of the intake manifold. Acis is going to cause turbulance.. I say get a 4th gen 3sgte caldina intake manifold set up.

Easy to do if you want to turbo your std engine.

First check that the engine is in good health.
If all OK, then start collecting parts.
- 3SGTE map sensor
- Walbro fuel pump http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WALBRO-255-LPH-FUEL-...tem280324380566
- bigger injectors
- 3SGTE rev3 exhaust manifold & rev3 turbo
- Then you need one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-CT9-CT12-CT20...tem250398618719
- And this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ultralite-Sandwich-p...tem350164250052
- Then modify your sump with this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AN-8-AN8-AN-08-Male-...tem150329257289 for oil drain
- Correct length AN4 steel braided hose
- Correct length AN8 Steel braided hose
- Downpipe Decat http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Celica-GT4-MR2-3SGTE...tem250371213362
- And dont forget this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-MR2-MK2-TURBO...tem120405031709
- Connect all this to a 2.5" or 2.75" system
- Decent front mount intercooler and 2.5" intercooler pipes
- Heavy duty clutch
- Then get a piggyback ecu like the emanage ultimate or what ever your preference

Sure there is probably a couple more items to add

wow, sounds like a lot of parts needed. I expected a new intake parts and output manifold, as well as the turbo and probably some work on the ECU or something like that.
Sounds like all this stuff is gonna be a bit expensive, maybe more expensive than getting a GT4...
Does anyone know of some sort of installation instruction guide of how to install all this stuff?
As for my engine, I haven't read out the ECU for faults, but it is running just fine.
Does the 3S-GTE have bigger injectors than the 3S-GE?

Sorry, lunch break is up, so have to come back with my other question slater smile.gif

Thanks!

YEs the 2nd gen and 3rd gen 3sgte motors both have bigger injectors. The 2nd gen had 440 side feed and the 3rd gen had 540 side feed injectors...

The 3rd gen 3sge comes with iirc 295cc??

You can probably run rx7 460cc injectors like the 5s turbo guys since i believe the stock injector size for them is 213cc..

the plus is that the rx7 injectors are high impedance top feed and will be a straight drop in...

lets see a GT4 will cost me NZ$8,000, but a good (standard, low km, straight and hard to find) one wil be about NZ$14,000+

so NZ$8000 US$4,500....wow

Both intake and exhaust have different bolt patterns from gen2 to gen3.
