Well, you can always say that anything is possible with some work. I think the only problems would be the two obvious ones. Mounting and getting it to fit flush, and making sure the wiring is done right. I know there is a part that has a little led/lcd screen that has info displayed.

It might work, but not 100%. You would need to get the connectors from a 7th gen, and re-pin them into the 6th gen harness, but even then some aspects won't work, most importantly, the odometer.

Can it work? Yes, with some wiring you can make it work.
Is it plug and play? No. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

7gc gauges are painted to glow orange too... soo unless you like orange, or wanna drop more money on gauge faces i wouldn't do it.
check out some stuff for the 6gc gauges, white faces, custom faces, and the 3d things reko started!... good stuff! -------------------- |

BMJ84 and I have worked on this for close to half a year now- needless to say, it's quite hard to swap in a 7th gen cluster. Besides the obvious fact that a new bezel would need to be fiberglassed to fill the gaps on each side, and that the 7gc gauges would need trimmed at the top and bottom since they're taller than the 6gc's, the wiring is more difficult than a simple re-pin. There are quite a few wires that need to go through the ECU before the cluster and it's a pretty involved setup to do the swap.
IIRC, another thing is that the speedometer uses a different type of signal to calculator how fast you're going, much like the Honda S2000 gauge cluster. The odometer requires the ECU to work, so you'll more than likely need to get the 7gc ECU because it saves your mileage in the ECU and the cluster itself (and for some of the other wiring). You'll need a way to change the mileage on the odometer- chances are Toyota won't do this for you since its not even in a 7gc. There is a chip on the back of the cluster that stores the mileage; there is a way to run jumper wires to it and read it on a computer and edit the hexadecimal code to correct the mileage. It's quite an advanced procedure... Anyway, unless you 100% know what you're doing, don't bother. Is it possible? Of course. One of these days we'll finish the project.. ![]() |
