I have a new idea for a full GT-4 AWD conversion. I was talking with my brother talking about all kinds of cars like the Skyline , older WRX's, GT-4, etc and I was talking about a GT-4 conversion becasue I've always wanted one since I got my Celica. His Idea was to find a wrecked GT-4 preferably rear ended and swap all the parts over. That way you get every part you need and see how it is hooked up.

I haven't looked into the 6th Gens, but I know that with the 5th Gens the big issue with the swap is that there is no driveshaft tunnel in the FWD chassis. So essentially you need to strip the car down pretty well to just the bare frame, and then custom fabricate your own tunnel. There was a guy I think in the Thunder Bay area up here, who wanted to do a GT-Four drivetrain conversion on his Convertible. Instead of doing the tunnel thing he just wanted to buy a whole GT-Four chassis and then transplant the convertible body onto it.

As with importing and registering a GT-Four, it's possible, but is it worth the hassle?

Hardest part about the conversion is fabricating a rear subframe to bolt too. once this is done, the rest is VERY feasible.

I am so going to wait for you to tackle this Jim and then going to do it exactly as you have done it. This will give me time to come up with the funds as well as gain some new information. I hope you actually do it the way we discussed the parts (as everyone else is doing it in a way I do not think I will be able to do). So I am really looking forward to that.
