Friday I wash / clay bar / polish / wax / wax / seal the car. including detailing the interior, cleaning hte wheels, calipers, tires, Looked awesome for a whole day, Sunday, I went to the NY auto show so didn't drive the car the whole day, today, went out to go to work and my blue car is now green, spring time + tress are not friends of your freshly detailed car. now I get to do it all over again, but this time I'll use my car cover.

Anytime! Much more fully coated in grease days to come! Hell yeah. I think it was a random coincidence; Odd. I'm curious to hear more, since I assume you maintain your car well and motors don't just kablooie out of nowhere. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

I'm curious to hear more, since I assume you maintain your car well and motors don't just kablooie out of nowhere. I guess the biggest reason I figure it was a funky coincidence is because I've only owned the car for 53k of the 162,000 miles it has on it; prior to that I can't find any maintenance records for the car, the dealer I bought it from bought it from an auction, and the only other record for the car says it was sold at auction after a lien and it only had one owner from initial purchase. When I bought the car the timing belt was at least 9k miles overdue, it seemed to have the original spark plugs, oxygen sensors, and other consumables that should have been changed at 90 or 100,000 miles. Combined with the random idle issue the car has displayed since I bought it (it sometimes struggles to keep the RPMs constant when it's cold and I've first started it) and the iffy (had it done at a Chevy dealership instead of Toyota and they pretty much fumbled through it ![]() Fate just decided my timeline for the work wasn't fast enough and showed me in a very absolute manner. Well, since you plan on droping in a new engine in the future then dont worry about it. You will probably be able to put another 20,000 miles on that little engine that could before the rod finds its way through the side of your block. A little bit of duct tape over the gaping hole in the block and some 50 weight oil and it will probably go another couple thousand on three cylinders before it seizes. Dont stress about that engine if you are going to be replacing it anyways, just dont go racing it around. Sounds like you should start putting money back every week for a 3sgte and find out first hand how bulletproof a toyota shortblock with a bad bearing really is. |

Brian, I'm sorry to hear about your rod knock. Hopefully you can get it all fixed up, better than new in no time.
Ferdi, are you sure that you need the manual transmission ECU? I thought with the 7A/5S, the auto ECU worked beautifully with either transmission. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Is the 1mz fuel pump internally regulated? You may have to drop the tank and retrofit a v6 fuel pump into it. Wont be hard except for the fuel level sender.
Lol and I love my 64 chebby with a 350 but I hate carburetors. Once you get the EFI running properly it will stay like that forever. Once you get a carb close to running perfect(perfect is impossible with carbs FML) it aint gonna stay that way for long. Im so tired of replacing power valves, stupid holleys |

Mines not a small block carb tho its from a 454. Im thinking about going to a edlebrock tho My old carb was literally pulled out of the dirt cleaned an thrown on the car lol the adjustment screws are shot an iys not worth rebuilding. But your right you can get a carb running really good but never quite perfect an if iys perfect it wont sty that way -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Yeah I miss my old Edlebrock RPM Performer 650, thing ran like a champ and I never had any problems with it. I will never suggest a Holley to anyone after the two Ive owned and all the countless hours pulling them apart trying to get them to run half as decent as an off the shelf Edelbrock

Gave her a good wash today, and ogled it for a good ten minutes after. 'Tis a pretty car, that.
I also must mention that I'm hella surprised what a difference a front strut bar makes. Best I can describe it is to say that it seems like a bit of Audi mixed in; a lot less harshness coming through the wheel, with the addition of a tangible increase in stiffness in front of the firewall. It stands out during hard cornering because the wheels don't seem to bounce as much anymore. Wow well I was going down the highway and I was in the right lane doing maybe 70-75 mph( yeah I know the speed limit is 60) when a cluster of cars start coming down the on ramp beside me going maybe 50. Well the twat in a silver honda civic at the back of the ramp couldnt wait and hopped across the white lines(the white lines were maybe 5 10 feet apart from each other still(the edge of the on ramp and the edge of the freeway which merge together then go dotted). So I eased into the brakes real hard to avoid rearending the guy and then he hit the brakes! So I locked up mine and of course the car went sideways so I threw it into neutral and let off the brakes but it was to late. 200 ft of fishtailing and spinning later I was facing the wrong way with flat spots on my tires. Im no driving expert but Im no novice either, I dunno why I couldnt save it. Seemed liked the wheels stayed locked the whole time but who knows. I didnt hit anyone, all the cars behind were smart enough to stop but I felt stupid and I couldnt catch up to that silver honda. Guess he took the next exit
