hey 6gc i know this is a 5th gen lol but i recently picked it up with an idling problem...it seems to idle then die when i accelerate it gets loud and stays under 2k rpm but when i accelerate slowly it will climb to about 2.5k rpm...i think its running rich because it smells like gas and i see a little smoke from the engine...the previous owner says its an MAP sensor but not sure thanks for all the help!!

You might have a plugged catalytic converter. Are you gettting any codes? You could test this by taking the cat loose and driving the car. It will be loud but if it drives fine then you know that is your problem. If it already had problems running it could have plugged it up with oil or extra fuel.

i think as soon as the ecu throws the code it goes into safe mode then cuts the fuel then dies..I would check your codes by jumping the diag box and go from there.
