Igniter Circuit Problems, Any tips? Options

So my Celica died on me this morning on my way to school... on the frickin highway with cars doing about 60-80. lol.

It looses power real suddenly. RPM's drop to zero randomly. Check engine light came on. Started flashing then died. Luckily i was in the far lane so i just pulled into the shoulder. I could start the car the engine would turn over but then RPM's would spass out jumping back and forth between normal idle and zero. Finally after a few minutes of just sitting there i started it up and revved it a little and managed to drive to school.

Later at work i plugged up the scan tool and got two codes:
P1300- Igniter Circuit #1 fault
P0130- Multiple Misfires (or something like that i don't remember the second one very well)

So...i was wondering what kinda advice i could get at checking this. I'll probably start checking connections and such tomorrow since it is vital that i have my car running reliably. i use it ALOT.

Oh P.S. last September i had sort of a similar problem. However i would only lose power somewhat (i would simply be unable to accelerate. I would be cruising at 60 mph for example at wide open throttle without gaining any more speed what so ever.) Check engine light would only come on sometimes. Turned out to be a cam position sensor. (which happened to be in the distributor.) i had the distributor replaced with an EXCEL part and problem fixed. However i've also read up that the distributor could be a cause of a failure in the ignitor. Idk much about that. Input appreciated.
