I dont know if there legal, i just thought some places you could give them you licence plate # and they would make it for you in the euro style so it would be semi legal??? but im not sure.

Here in California, I know for a fact that modifying your license plate is against the law. I wanted to make my license plate a little narrower so that you can see my grill more. I called DMV (dept. of Motor Vehicles) and they said ANY modifications (cutting, changing the color,) is against the law and you can be jailed and fined.
I was very disappointed cause I just put this grill and it looks so sporty. Then I put back my plate and it covered half of it up! mad.gif

It seems a lot more flexible here in France.
We have some laws relating to number (license) plates.
From what I can remember they relate to:
- the color of the letters and the background of the plate - Front = white flourescent background with black letters, Rear = yellow flourescent background with black letters
- the size and font of the letters on the plate.
Having said that, most people tend to do as they please, it's only @$20 fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the front plates in the US are square, right?
What about a rectangular "European style one" ? (as long as the background and letters correspond to your legal requirements).
