another reason the 7th gen will walk away is the weight difference. its about 700-800 pounds.

very true, when i fisrt found out how heavy celicas were i wanted to call toyota and give them my 2 cents, why would you make a sporty car be as heavy as an eliphant with no power.( unless you have a swaped engine)... but toyota was thinkin saftey so you cant go wrong there!!

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road.

Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial".

my shift point depends on my mood and how long that light was yellow for smile.gif but seriously ussualy between 2500 and 3500 will give you enough pull to not feel like your crawling. if your looking for fast you got the wrong engine invest some in mods cause honestly shifting a stock 5sfe above 4k wont really have that much of an impact on anything but your mileage.

I still am not sure whether I want to swap in a 3sgte, or turbo the 5sfe. The 3s has much more aftermarket support, and is factory turbo, so it's built for the boost, but the 5s is torquier than it. Presure was able to pull some pretty impressive numbers from it.

v6, y0.

seriously drop in any MZ series block and you will have ~the same power as a 2nd gen 3s, and then you can shift at 2500 and beat any stock celi around

Always shift at 3k.. Always.

Unless I feel like flooring it (When I get real pissed), I can go up to 5.5k. But it's very rare that I will exceed 3k. When I'm in a more sporty-driving mood I usually drive in the 3-4k but not more.

99% of the time I'm always in the 2-3k rpms. I wanna take care of it hehe. Although, at 2k and lower I feel like the car misses power/torque so much, it almost stalls.

At 2k and below you are lugging your engine, which puts extra stress on the rods and just generally isn't good for your engine (for those who don't know lugging is basically any time where you can give the engine more gas and the engine is unable to or struggles to increase in RPM).

I shift around 3500-4000 RPM on just about every shift, will bring it up to 5k every now and then but anything above 5k just seems to be a waste of gas.

Everyones right that it doesn't make much power after 5400rpm but the thing is the higher you rev it the higher the revs you will be doing in the next gear.
