I have been away from the 6gc community for a while. Recently i moved into the bay area (Milpitas). I have not been here for long like not even a week and i had an accident yesterday in the rain. I was turning right on a slope, slowed down and turned. Car was turning nicely (<20mph) and all of a sudden no traction, drifting nicely and plow! It hit the island! I was shocked in disbelief.. Started the car back, drove slowly in the closes parking lot. Looked at the car both f and r wheels are misaligned bad (wobbling when i was driving to the parking. I called AAA for a tow truck and it was towed at their facility.

Today the car was inspected ($94).. Found out that the F & R LCA's are bent. Bent struts, damaged rear wheel bearing. Both front axle torn, tranny seal leaking. Needs alignment and reinspection after. ESTIMATE ONLY PARTS $1500 LABOR $728

Im lost what to do and need help. I love my car but its not feasible to repair it atm because i dont hava a garage and $2k+ worth of fixing which is 70% of what the car is worth.

Should i part it out or fix it? If i sell it out as a whole as parts car, how much is it worth?

Any help is appeeciated. Thanks

Pics will be posted later

There is a ST parts car in sac that i could rip all those parts off,i have a set of rear hubs id donate, we could do a DIY alignment, and have you back on the road for under a quarter of that cost id bet. Only problem is all the parts are used and ud need to get a real alignment sometime, but hey, my suspension has 295k on it and still runs like a champ!

damn, i didn't know you move up north. sucks about the car, but if the costs to fix it are around the same as what the car is worth, you have to ask yourself how much you want to keep it. personally, if i caused $2k worth of damage on my celica, i would walk away from it and look for something a little nicer than the celica. i'm sure you'll be able to figure out whats best for you, but you'll have to keep in mind that not only are you gonna gonna have to spend the money to get the recent damage fixed, but with 207k miles on the motor, you may have to spend money in the near future to keep the motor running good. i'm kinda in the same boat with a high mileage engine. i'm burning more oil lately and it looks like i'm getting blow by on the #1 cylinder piston rings. i'm debating if i want to tear out the engine and do a rebuild and try to do the manual trans swap at the same time or try and get a different engine/trans. i just don't want to spend $1-2k on a engine since i only paid $700 for the car. i like the celica, but not that much. if i saved money, i could have a nicer second car in 6 months or so.

its all about figuring out what you would really like to put your money towards. when you said wrx on FB, i f you can find one for a decent price, i'd say go for it. costs of parts are about the same as the celica, if not cheaper in some areas. you can get decent gas mileage in it if you train yourself not to stab the throttle every where you go. the only thing you have to keep in mind for looking after a turbo is letting the car cool down after running it hard, but letting it idle for a couple minutes afterwards is all you really need to do. the awd an extra power even in stock form will be a lot nicer than the celica. if you are really looking at one, i highly recommend taking one for a test drive and see if its a car you like. also with you being more up north, the awd would be a nice thing to have expecially in heavy rain or snow.
