I updated the first post with numbers. I am in no way saying these results are conclusive. I really would like to find a way to hook up digital calibrated temp sensors to the TB and intake plenum, as well as the intake. Then either get on a Dyno (so I can roll in a controlled enviroment). If I can find a cost effective way to so this, I will. And then we can put to rest if the bypass has some relevance. Keep in mind, although I did not post it, the intake plenum was pretty much the same temp as the TB (save a deg or two)

The only prob. is thats the temp. of the throttle body not the air passing it, of corse the TB is going to hotter thats the point of the system. What you need is an Air Temp. sensor to take the reading of the air passing the TB.

Yes, I know this. That was the whole point of the external temp readings, if it was only a few deg of then why bother (and the bypassed TB was a pretty even temp, while the stock set up rose in temp), but a decent amount means I wouldnt mind investigating further. I've already started to look at some temp sensors and I have an old TB laying around that I can grind up and use as an adapter. I would love to put one in the plenum as well, but that would require an extra one (which I dont have).
But, like I said, I read that people say it works, or that its a waste of time, with no real way to back up either claim. Save for one I saw on LS1 Tech where a guy did benefit from it. Instead of taking a huge jump, getting it all set up, dyno, etc...Im going to do it in small steps and go from there. Maybe it works, maybe it wont, one way to find out. |

if it really made any difference, you'd think that they'd have the IAT inside the intake manifold and not out by the air filter.
