since I'm pretty sure reverse doesn't have a synchro, then just as everyone said you were grinding two gears against one another. Therefore It's in your best interest to get that tranny oil changed asap. Last thing you need is metal shavings floating around in there. And that drain plug magnet cant catch all of them. Luckily its easy and shouldn't cost too much.

Another epic thread for the night...when has 5th gear ever been down and to the right? You got lucky that it still goes into reverse be thankful

^ Older VW's reverse is where our 1st is so 5th is where our reverse is. Same with trucks (over drive instead of 5th).
