So i pull out of the parking garage at my campus and i hear a scrape every time i do, after trying to figure out what exactly scrapes i find out its the gas tank, not the best thing to the the lowest part of our cars, so im curious if anyone has done something to fix this delima? almost like some kind of gaurd of sorts

wow. i would never have expected. i havent been underneath my car in a while but id imagine that the rear subframe would scrape before the gas tank.
might just be that one spot you pull out of. just enough of an angle to scrape the tank?

Find a different parking space? Your gas tank would definately not be the lowest point of your car. In this situation it may be the way your entering/exiting the parking space, the angle you enter/exit at or the design of the parking space.

Yeah, stop going over speed bumps? Jk. I find that going over 'em at an angle helps with that a lot.

only issue with this space is that its out of a parking garage and you can only go straight..... need to stop parking there, but i was just wondering if anyone had found some kind of souloution for this problem

Ive never scrape my tank :\. Usually because my exhaust is lower than my tank, plus what whatthe said the sub frame is also lower. I would def change something because that tank was never made to be beat on and it eventually might lead to it cracking.

As far as making something to protect it, it really depends on what skills/tools you have.Welding near the gas tank is a huge no no,i would say if you really want to fix this:

1.Build a sort "cage" to protect it(similar to 4x4s),weld it together then bolt it in.
2.Drop the empty tank, clean it.Then weld a few bars onto the lowest point
3. FIND A NEW PLACE TO PARK!

I still dont understand how you are scraping your tank, if your exhaust piping and muffler is basically below the gas tank....

no worries. scraping is a part of the low lifestyle.
get used to it, you wont be able to avoid it.
i positive it wont puncture the tank if thats what your worried about
