Found out that two rod bearing cops towards the transmission have play in them. Looks like I will need e13 torx socket to get the bolts out. Is that correct? I don'thave it so I will get that tomorrow.

4afe 105 HP, 7afe 110 HP

junkyards will cost 300-500$ with unknown condition

rebuilds will cost ~1200-1500

rebuild will not cost that much. if you do all the work yourself, it can be done for about 500 bucks. cheaply. about 800 if you replace everything like in my guide

total cost in the end. it may cost 500 for a rebuild kit from ebay, or 500 for beaings/seals from toyota. what about machine work? new pistons? all your fluids? special tools most of us wont have? incidentals? tune up stuff? (whos gonna rebuild an engine and put old plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil filter.) oil/water pumps? timing belt? if you got the hook ups, or do a bare minimum build i can see sub 1000 happening. but thats best case. i've built a few motors, i know you have too. hence tooling stuff isnt our issue. we already have ring compressors, assy lube, feeler gauges, calpiers, hone maybe, plastigauge, etc...

Can any please confirm that the rod bearing cap bolt used 13mm torx socket before I go get one? I am just curious to see how the crank looks like. Thanks.

Finally got the bearing cap off. The bearing was almost welded to the journal and its pretty scored. So time to work towards putting used motor in.
