maybe your oil pump is on its way out? Perhaps your oil pressure sending unit is shot? It's time to run a manual gauge. Just 'T' it right at the electronic sending unit. It's cheap and works great!

You should be running a oil pressure gauge, because low oil pressure will ruin a turbo real quick.

i would use the same port as the stock pressure switch..
but it seems you may have lost an oil pump -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. Oil is cold at start up and so its thick causing higher pressure, after it warms up it thins out causing lower pressure. then when you increase the RPMs ith oil pressure increases as it should.

loooks like toyota wants >5psi at idle and 36-71 at 3000 or so, your good.
so that sender is bad, OR wiring is loose -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. after installing the gauge, its seem its all good, but the oil light open sometimes when i speed up, even if i had disconnect it lol, it was obviously a electric problem, maybe my engine move too much backward on its mount when accelerating making the wiring harness to move a lot... i think

That sounds good, mine is at about 70 at start up and then once warmed fully, it will idle at 20. If I get the rpms up to about 3100, it peak at 60. I think your pressure is perfect. |

Low pressure = high flow = oil is hot and thin. OR low. Keep that in mind. My pressure on a cold start will usually rise to about 40 and then start dropping if I'm low on oil.
High pressure = low flow = oil is cold and thick. Think of pressure like the difference between drinking a Coke through a straw, and then drinking pancake syrup with the same straw. Thicker stuff requires more pressure to move. Those pics don't look like the 7AFE, which is what I have. Cold start in hot weather gets me 60 psi, cold weather 65-70 psi and takes forever to reach that. Idle pressure at operating temp is 15-20 psi. Cruising pressure at 3,000 RPM at operating temp is around 35 psi. It usually drops a few psi with the A/C running. I assume this has something to do with changes in vacuum/PCV system when the A/C is on. From what I've read, and this is just a "universal" standard, is you want 10 psi for every 1,000 rpms the engine is turning. Obviously though, at operating temp you won't see that. I only hit around 40-45 psi at 6,000 RPM at operating temp. So your pressure sounds fine ![]() |

in fact , i worked all day whit my car , (3sgte 3th gen) delivery and i keep it running for 8 hour stopping it and starting it again and again,
i did get 9-13 psi at iddle at 100 degree water temp, and 65 psi when accelerating 20 to 40 psi according to less accelerating mobil 1 synthetic oil, mobil 1 oil filter 10w 30 This post has been edited by Needles: Aug 21, 2011 - 12:54 AM |
