Not much to talk about, just thought I'd mention that I saw 2 93-98 Supras (one white, one black), a silver Lamborghini Murciealgo (sp?), and a red Ferrari ? all in one night. Kinda entertaining for me, since I've only seen 2 Supras in real life before tonight, one lambo and just a handful of ferrari's before.. just a fun night.
Some guy in a ricey accord was checkin out my car too, I just shook my head and kept goin.. poor guy, you almost feel bad for Honda drivers. -Brian |

A friend of mine with a 97 DX or something told me the other day that "We {he and I} could both swap in whatever engine we wanted and the honda engine would always own a toyota."

actually, he may be right, but it depends is his civic a hatch? a civic hatch with a h22 swap and turbo would be stupidly fast but h22's are expensive, and so are turbo kits. there are lots of options for honda engine swaps, pretty much only one choice for our cars. now, st185 3sgte makes more power and torque than a stock h22(maybe the same hp, but way more torque) if his civic is a hatch, then its light(2200lbs) and i have seen a mid 90's civic hatch with a h22 engine, CAI and unbolted exhaust run 13's on drag slicks a celica with a 3sgte swap would probably weigh about 250lbs more than a civic hatch with a h22 edit and btw, if money is not a factor, than NO ENGINE IS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER. all engines work the same way and the more money you put in, the more power you will get. not true, some engines will always be better than others dollar for dollar, some engines havent had enough research done to fix certain flaws it may have at certain stages in tuning... some motors just arent physically capable of putting out power #s that other motors are, this is why dollar for dollar, a 4 cylinder just cant produce as much power as a v8. power to weight ratio may be around the same, but power itself isnt. and if im not mistaken not all engines work the same, rotaries are completely different. and the mechanics behind flat-4 vs inline4 and v6 vs I6 vs w6 may be the same, but the research needed and the ignition and the cam timing and the crank style are each very different.

ture, i was just being very broad, lol. there is a lot of truth in the "there's no replacement for displacement" saying, mod for mod, bigger displacement engines will almost always make more power. but money can change a lot of things, namely, every single part of the engine -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

he has a coupe. But lets be honest people, a third gen 3s with a boost controller Vs a H22 with a turbo...?
As long as the internals aren't touched, no non-turbo engine with a turbo will beat a factory low cp turbo engine. |

it takes more than just a boost controller to up the boost on a factory turbo car. you have to make sure you have a proper fuel setup and proper tuning. turbo an h22 and place it next to a 3rd gen 3sgte. lets say you run 15psi on both with intake and exhaust upgrades and tuning. since the h22 has more displacement and a higher CR, when the two engines are at the same boost levels, the h22 will make noticably more power. CR just raises fuel and octane requirements, it doesnt mean that the engine cant take the stress of boost, especially honda performance engines, they can take a lot of abuse. i have seen turboed ITR's. they have really high compression, but the engine still holds. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

Honda motors are pretty tough... just consider, Vtec with all of those little moving pins and stuff, all in squished together in the head, and is designed for operating at 6K+ rpms... and is able to do so for a long long time, and is covered under warantee... Obviously the manufactures have faith in their product... and that's just Vtec. As far as eating boost... it's all about tuning. 15psi is doable with stock compression (10:6:1) depending on your patience with tuning. Higher compression, as mentioned, is less stable for boost, however, that can be fixed with proper fuel managment, higher octane fuel, and a lot of very meticulous tuning... It's a lot of wear on the motor, and will probably reduce the life of the engine a lot, but turbo charging an n/a motor in general will always do that... even if it's just a little bit. |

I heard a 93+ supra just showed up in my town. Thats pretty big news. The nicest car i've seen was an acura integra with a body kit a gigantic intercooler exhaust and all kinds a crap with a florida tag that is always on the biggest street friday and saturday. My town is lame
