to do it right? - too much

just to get it done? - not worth it

by the time you get a good reliable 7afte it wouldve been way more feasible to swap something else in IMO

it is expensive to boost the 7A-FE. however its worth every penny cause they respond to it very well. Just make sure you have a good tune

Ive spent about $1500 on everything but a BOV and turbo-back exhaust. All in all, i expect it will cost me about $2000 to get everything together before i finally bolt it all up. If you look around and take your time, you can find pretty decent deals. I got my T25 turbo for $50 from a junk yard. Its in great shape and came off of a nearly new Saab. You just have to look around and be ready to spend a little money when you find something.

I have the turbo manifold, oil pan with oil return line, 420cc injectors, piping molded to fit st and down pipe for a gt28 turbo. I can get pictures if you are interested. Youll be missing a turbo, blow of valve and bigger fuel pump i guess

i have a turbo setup for sale i have not had time to put it up in the fs/ft yet. If you are even interested in buying one i will give you the specs, must cheaper than 2500. Maybe a grand at the most.

do you not need lower compression pistons when boosting low with either turbo or SC?

Only if you want to run large amounts of boost. The stock internals can generally handle ~12 psi fairly well, depending on their condition.

Is it absolutely necessary to retard ignition timing when turbo charging the 7afe with about 6 psi?
