i saw a rattling like youe old engine did.. turned out to be loose flywheel bolts.
did you use thread locker on your fly bolts? torque them properly? -------------------- QUOTE "And, as always, your friendship, help, and dedication to the advancement of Texas Celica dominance is GREATLY appreciated. This is strange sounding I was just wondering did you hear a snap when you put the wires into the distributor because they have to lock. And I had a hard time getting my wires all the way down because they also pop when they go down all the way. Other than that nothing could change unless you put a hand on and lean on the distributor and if it was loose you could have moved it down. |

old wires were core so they're gone.
anyways, today this guy checked it out, and here are the problem(s): timing belt was loose and hitting something under the cover so it was damaged and if i kept driving it, eventually snapped. noise wasnt 'loud' enough to be bearings, "definitively timing." other stuff was also found wrong: cable bad, motor mounts, bolts missing here and there. so now for 250 plus parts, im getting all that fixed. hopefully done rite this time. the only thing i cant understand why the noise started coming after the wire replacement. is it a coincidence or they're related? -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

Nevermind; I was driving it to the mechanics place and about half way there
The knocking noise got louder, and continuous; pulled over, recognized that noise, it was the bearing (again). Was getting off the freeway and then: BAAM! Big bang; smoke everywhere Rod out of block, hole in block ![]() Time for rebuilding my old engine. -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

Also the mechanic looked at my old engine, said the bearing weren't that bad so all he's gonna do is put new bearings in and done.
Is that fine, like don't u have to machine the block and crank? Or is that only if it'd really bad? The old engine was definatelly not as bad as this once, there was no smoke or anything, just knocking noise. According to him: "when I spinned the crank, the pistons still had compression in them so that means the walls and pistons are fine" Is he rite? -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

Damn! that bearing again? get good ones next time... acl wouldnt b bad. Well, the bearing alone can b changed. anyway when he opens the engine he will b able to confirm wether the pistons or rods r gone too. ul probably need a new headgasket aswell...hks makes good ones.

Well this current motor was out of a junk yard with unknown miles, And the previous stock one (which is going back in the car soon) had eBay ones, which is probably why they went bad. The mechanic looked at it and said that "I could feel it, the pistons still had compression in them" when he was turning the crank. And apparently only one bearing was loose. It was still in And somewhat technically installed. The references this mechanic gave this time were Stephen_lee, DEATH, D-man. If any one u guys read this can u cofirm that this time the mechanic REALLY knows what hes doing? I don't mean to sound like a dick but u all know, I got screwed over from the past 3 previous mech. And it's just more of a concern now rathe than judging the other persons capability, I don't mean ANYTHING negative by it. The guys name is joon/junior. -------------------- For Sale:OEM tail lights - make offer

Why don't you try rebuilding it yourself? Just buy an engine stand from harbor freight for $40 and do it in your garage. You have all the information you need to do it on here. I'm only 18 and I rebuilt the front end of my car in my driveway and I also did a full auto to manual swap in my driveway as well as remove all my ABS crap and put in non ABS. If you have the time, try doing it yourself, but if you don't have the time, then that's completely understandable.

I lack confidence in my capabilities when it comes to my own car, every other car, I can do anything lol 2. My neighborhood doesnt like me working on my car and everytime they see me with a tool outside I ge letters and sh** 3. I need it done fast, can't afford to take my time.
