They are not made to be used with lowering springs. So if thats what you were using them on, you can only blame yourslef.

They are not made to be used with lowering springs. So if thats what you were using them on, you can only blame yourslef. They only warranty them up to a 1.5" drop too. If you're going to lower your car, don't go cheap... you regret it in the end. Pick up some Koni inserts for your OEM strut sleeves and clean up the body of the strut. Special D adjustable take a beating. On the stiffest setting, I have to be careful because my tires are actually what is absorbing most of the impact of potholes. The difference between OEM and performance like the GR-2's to Koni's is night and day. GR-2 is not a performance upgrade by any means. It's a factory replacement by a German brand. They are one of the best on the market for OEM, but when lowering, they wont last. -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. Project car 1992 Toyota Celica GT 5S-FE 170k Miles. ^ Yes, but Teins are known to drop a bit more than that because they're on the softer side. The true drop is closer to 2" after everything settles, beyond KYB's warranty of the strut capability. My springs don't drop as much but are stiffer, and as far I can tell everything is still intact. I've been on this setup since the 13th of February, 2010. I'll be doing brake work soon, so I might just poke around and see how the struts are.

If your KYB failed and you were running them at 1.5" or less of a drop, they should be under warranty replacement.

I've got a full set of rebuildable GT struts lying around. They come with springs too ![]() Not that you need those, but they're still in great condition. Springs sag over time, that 1.5" turns into 2" pretty quickly, then 2.5"
KYB are made in Japan BTW |

Back when I had my Celica I ran GR2s and S-techs for like 4 years with no issues. Im running GR2s in the front of my EP3 right now and havent had any issues with them even with a 2" drop. They could have been a defective batch. My sister's Mazda had the oposite issue, her GR2s seized on her and were super super stiff. Like it was as hard of a ride as my buddies track preped 350z. I'd take em to a KYB dealer and see if they can warrenty them for you. They do have a limited lifetime warrenty.
