Hi!

Bought myself a nice ST205 1995 model in August last year. Enjoying every ride and always looking forward to have a cruise in it.

About two months in my ownership it started to fail getting the engine running. It started and then just stopped again. After it had started once and not started again it wouldn`t start at all. I talked to a mechanic and he said it could be the fuel relay that had broke. I tested a "trick" with connecting two of the points(B+ and Fp) in the diagnostic box under the hood and it started and ran just fine.(was supposed to get 12volts to the fuel pump without using the relay)

I then changed the fuel relay(looked like that one -> http://www.theautopartsshop.com/fuel-pump-.../stdry276.html) and then the car started and ran just like it was supposed to. I have now been using it without a problem since(about two months), until today.

Today it started just fine, i drove to my destination and when i came back to drive home it wouldn`t start. Tried three times before i popped the hood and applied the "trick" again. Just like before it started with the trick applied. I tried taking the connection/trick out with the engine running and it kept running.. (I remember that it wouldnt keep running last time). I guess the fuel relay may be on it`s way to getting broken again and that it just didn`t kick in like it was supposed to. That happened about 5 times or so the last time before it finally broke all together.

So what do you guys think? Anyone with experience in this field? Any broken fuel pump relay histories? I don`t know if this is a common problem on these cars or that I am just unlucky.. Really sucks when you can`t get the car running(kind of worst case).

Hope you have any experience and/or knows what the problem could be or if this is a common problem.

Thanks for helping

I've never heard of that happening in any GT-four (certinally not any of the 3 I've owned).

The only thing I can think of is the relay is getting a power spike somehow or power going the wrong way from a short or something like that.

Perhaps get a multi meter and test the relay output (to pump) against the pump itself and see if there is a current drop.

a failing fuel pump can draw excess current and burn out relays for a while before it fully fails. do the pins of the relay look like they've gotten hot?

Check to see if you have moisture in the relay, you could have water going into your relay box. The next thing would be to check and see if you installed an electronic devices onto your fuel pump wires.
