Hey guys. My dad just bought a 280zx lastweek. The rpm does not work correctly. When the car is cold it works fine. But when you warm it up you can only get up to about 330rpm and then itll drop down to zero. And when you slow down a little bit itll climb up to where it was below the 3300 mark. Were really not sure about wut it can be. All the electric throughout the car works fine.

It could be a bad connection that only shows afree warm up
My civic is the other way around it bounces as t start up an is fine after about a minute
I would check the wiring behind the gauge an see if anything's loose
An check around the distributor could just need the connections cleaned

Good luck

Thanks guys. My cousin came by yesterday to look at it and he said its a wiring problem. He said the crank sensor is bad. We have no idea where its located though. We thought it would be right next to the crank but theres nothing there. Well im gonna go look for a wiring diagram to help us out with this.
