I'm just getting started with my Celica and I wanted to know if it would do more damage than good if I installed some sort of cold air intake on my car. It's my everyday driver, so I don't know for sure what it will do. Any help of some sort would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

From my experience, with a stock 7a, a CAI can get you better mileage when you're easy on it and very little change in performance. Before I did my exhaust work, I was able to squeeze almost 40 mpg out of my 7a on the highway... now with a free-flowing exhaust, its nowhere near that..

A short ram intake would probably be a safer bet on a dd that eay theres less of a chance of getting water into the intake
An without an exhaust you wont notice any real power gain

This. Even with the exhaust, you won't really gain but a few hp. Intakes on our cars are mostly noisemakers.

Agreed, the noise is a good one. I did go back to stock though, and with my added sound insulation, the Celica nearly rivals my IS 300 for quietness. So worth it.

Same. I actually like the fact that the Celica has no sound proofing. I like hearing the water hit the fender walls in the rear and the roar of the engine sucking in air and blowing it out lol. If I wanted quiet, I'd drive a buick...

94STCelica, if you're curious as to how it will sound when you put the intake on:

That's a secondary cat delete and intake only. Makes a good sound.

Only thing I've noticed with the SRAI is improved throttle response and better gas mileage lol.
