i asked my mech about RWD on an allt rack... apparently to do that you have to turn your engine, because RWD trannys are placed in a totally different direction... which i coincedently notice the previous night while me and mechanic #2 had a mustang GT on a lift. I have my belts and stuff on the left side, mustang and camaro i looked at had thiers on the front. the tanny is just turned 90 degrees counter clockwise with an axel coming out of the end of it that goes to the back of the car.

Mina

I already stated this on the first page my friend...

you could put the motor and all in the rear of the car, like the mr-2. of coarse you would have to make a firewall and some sort of sound proof cover. it would be doudle the custom work but would be sweet nonetheless.

Only there are little things called weight balance and structural integrity... which can be seriously compromised. C'mon people... wake up and smell reality. FWD is much better for driving around that is RWD... if you want something RWD... go buy one that already is.

since your so knowledgeable about celicas, why don't you start offering up some solutions instead of just problems, i was just throwing it out there for discussion. obviously its going to take more than just turning bolts to make it work, so far all that you have posted on this topic has been negative and condesending. show more respect for the people who are just working out rough ideas, i know that you have a lot of knowledge on these cars and your input is valuable but not if your going to be a prick about it.

HAHAHA... and I guess you're just *trying* to learn huh? Now... give me ONE good reason, why this should even be discussed at length, I mean... this topic is more or less, a pile of shattered dreams that sensible people would point out as false hopes. Instead of fueling the fire, I'm giving you a mechanical, practical, and objective point of view. It's simply not anything that anyone with any mechanical expertise would do or even conjure up, because they know before-hand what are practical choices and what aren't. Basically... keep dreaming. There is no point putting money into something like this unless you're a millionaire who can afford to drop a few hundred grand into a car.

Again, if you can come up with a worthwhile reason as to why, after an objective, if slighty "negative and condensending" point is brought forth by a person with enough knowledge to actually do something and not just talk... then I will put forth effort into considering the idea as a viable conversion for our great great cars...

But for now, silly ideas such as a midship Celica or a FR Celica will only last as long as someone with knowledge is willing to fuel it. I mean, if you wanna do it... fine... but Like I said, you all seem more or less like you're dreaming. Why is it that as soon as I point out the RWD conversion would be nearly impossible (and then you accept that it's more than likely true) that you would again bring up another silly idea as a Midship Celica just as quickly as I discounted the other idea? Well... I'd compare it to something like a child, who keeps changing a story as soon as each other story is discounted, all because he/she wants one thing. ATTENTION... if you want someone to say it sooo badly... then here is is:

"Excellent idea! I wish I woulda thought of that... now, who is a capable mechanic? What parts do I need? What about the engine? What about a tranny? What about..."

Have you even stopped to ask yourself... WHY?

lol..lol kwanza i'm not laughing at you its just i understand how your feeling and i was just talking about the same thing the other day...

me and my cousin did have the idea of buy a 96 supra that roof was damaged from a tree falling on it.. and getting another 6gc and taking everthing from the supra and putting it into the celi... we drew diagrams for as to how everthing was going to work out and left room for the unexpected... well we took up must of a 130 page note book thinking this up. and after talking to our uncles and some of their friends which are all mechanicas and or welders we so a good reasonable way of making this work..

i feel alot of people have ideas that can work but have no real clue as to how to make it work and money well for some people thats not such of a big problem.. it usally just comes down to know how and will to do it ...

you are such a little punk ass bitch, riding around with your samurai sword and talking down to people like you are the only one who has actually done something more than cosmetic to your car. even the way you word your posts, like its some grand speech and we are all just gonna sit at our computers and marvel at how articulate you are. and then you talk about how these are just pipe dreams and how none of us have the will or the know how to make this happen and how you could do this no problem, f*** you. what would you know about what i can or cannot do, or what resources i have at my disposal. i told you that i thought you were half way knowledgable about our cars but so far all i have seen is more of you stating the obvious **** that people with a life don't have time to type. you want a good reason why we are all considering this conversion, cause the body style of the celica is great, most other rwd cars that are in our price range aren't very good looking or aren't practicle for people who drive with more than their sword in their car. also cause for me this car is my project car. i know that i don't need anymore reason than that to consider this project. and you certainly don't need to be a millionaire to pull this off, i would have thought a guy that thinks of himself as a genious would have known that. ATTENTION... if you want someone to say it so badly than here it is...

" wow!!! thank you so much for saving us, you are so smart. all this time i thought that this would take me one day and all i would need is a sledge hammer."

Heheh... personal attacks now... but it's ok tho. You know why? there's a real world. If you can't even take a few words from some strange person on a webboard... i hope you can make it out there. I mean it as nothing personal to you, but take it as you will. I doesn't matter to me. You attacked me first... interpreted things the way you wanted to... and here we are (not saying I didn't fire back). Again, nothing personal, but ideas like these get very old, very fast. Anyone can say it, but will anyone do more?

As far as my sword goes... heh, It managed to get caught in a candid. Does that *really* bother you? It's not like I go around saying, "hey...check out my sword!"

Cool down, and have a nice day...

3 personal attacks on everyone who has posted on this topic, calling them stupid and childish. and repeatedly boosting yourself as the authority on how to and when to. to be honest as i'm going through these forums checking stuff out, i have started to notice a trend in your posts, that most of them are cocky and condesending much like yours here. i can take plenty of harsh words from people, but what i can't take is people who come online and act like complete assholes for the simple fact that nobody knows who they are and will never encounter them anywhere else. as far as our argument from this point on, i've said my peace and hope in the future when you go to reply to someone that you try to show more respect.

and on the sword, no offence, but you put that there on purpose. come on now...

to everyone else who has posted i am sorry for the space and time i have wasted on this argument and the language used, i hope that we haven't spoiled this topic for everyone else.

Like I said... you can interpret things as you like. As far as this topic goes... continue on if you wish... as for me, I'm done blabbling with you. Obviously it really bothers you, so I'm just gonna step down. It's not a thing to me.

Why does the sword both you so much? Heh... you got some problems if you're constantly bringing it up. You should see what's in my trunk...

And finally, if you have a problem with me, I live in Chico, CA (small/medium college town). Let me know, come down, and I'll be sure to greet you.

Oh man i was wondering why this topic was 2 pages and so lengthy...and i thought me, Anderson and caca were the only ones who argued. Ne ways, u'd have to strip the car to the frame to do that kinda conversion, its not worth it.

i knew that was coming at some point, this is the reason that you and your sword bother me so much, i also am affiliated with martial arts and see your type all over. the best word for guys like you is POSER, you would like nothing more than for people to think of you as the next bruce lee and an all around genius, which isn't a bad goal but you try too hard to make people believe it, just like your threat you directed to me. you know i would never waste the time and money to go to cali just to fight you. you are just trying to sound tough when its actually really pathetic. but that is it from me on this topic, it is boring me.

by the way, what is in your trunk? you have me curious now.

All I can say is IMHO I don't think mounting the motor in the rear would be very practical in a 6th gen. If it were, don't you think Toyota would have done that? Oh wait, they did... I think it's called an MR2. tongue.gif

But seriously... I usually discourage people for coming up with ideas such as this. However, I'm always interested in seeing new things happen. If anyone is willing to attempt this and make it happen... I just might go out of my way to fly out there, shake your hand, and take you out to lunch. wink.gif

if you want a RWD car, purchase one that was built to be RWD from the factory, a RWD converted car will never drive like a car built with that type of drivetrain in mind. with that this topic is closed.
