Hey guys, so I'm planning for the near future and one of my plans in putting in an MR-S helical LSD, slightly oversized tires on 17" wheels (to effectively reduce the final ratio to compensate for the ratio increase from the MR-S LSD) and putting in a 5th gear from a Camry gearbox for a longer cruising gear.

What is all that is needed for either of these? Is it true that the MR-S LSD is a direct bolt-on affair?

the best I have been able to find. I have been searching all week.

This will also touch upon what you will be getting into with replacing the 5th gear

get the 5th gear from a 4 cylinder camry. the 5th gear out of an E153 probably wont fit on the shaft of your trans.

S51 is the trans the longer 5th gear is taken from. I might leave the gear swap for later and do just LSD since I can't source the gear itself right now unless I buy it from the dealer(too much $$$$).

Update on this: I have a friend that's a VW mechanic, he's been so for about 6 years and has repaired 5 of the 2.0L N/A MK2 and MK3 transmissions and he saw some pictures I showed him and he said they look very similar so it shouldn't be too hard for him to do and me to help him.
