So I did a rebuild on my7a this past Christmas and when hooking back up the rear motor mount i put the wrong bolt in the top of the bracket and couldn't get another one into the bottom (one is slightly shorter). I figured it would hold up well enough till i could get in there to switch it out. WRONG.
The force on the bolt caused the bell housing to shoot a piece off of it at some point, so now the only location out of the 2 that any bolt could go is the bottom hole and, now that I've tried it with one, I really don't want to have only one bolt in there. So here's the question: would it be easier/cheaper to find a new (to me) bell housing and swap the trans internals or to put a 6spd from the 7th gen GT-S on it? Would the axles still work with the 6spd? What other options do I have and what would be the best option here? |

Take it to a machine shop and have them wield it and then drill and tap it out.
