Hey everyone, i have a 94 st automatic which shifts hard when i put it in drive and reverse, it does the same is it drives as well, if shifts hard with a loud thud, anybody have any idea of what could be causing this?

I'm not sure myself either but I believe it could be a selenoid.

Per the BGB, possible causes of harsh transmission engagement at any driving range:

Throttle cable out of adjustment
Valve body or primary regulator faulty
Accumulator pistons faulty
Transaxle faulty

When I looked up the 6G Celica on Consumer Guide, one of the few trouble spots mentioned was:
Automatic transmission: Automatic transmissions may shift harshly due to rubber check balls in the valve body wearing out. (1994-99)
