The other night my Celica was stolen from my house, the police recovered it and of course it was F'd up. I literally just put a new clutch in her last week. Now my problem is the car will not go into gear. The gear shifter will not go into 2nd,4th,5th or reverse. It seems like it is stuck and doesnt want to move. She will not move in 1st, when i let out the clutch it will start to grind but yet no movement. Do i need a whole new tranny or any ideas what i should do?

sounds like a clutch issue, the only way to really know is check out the linkage and clutch.

Probably not the issues, but make sure the clips are still attached at the tranny and shifter side. The clips that hold the shifter cables firm. Also check to make sure the slave cylinder bolted to the outside of the transmission is actually moving the shifter fork when you press in the clutch. Good things just to check, otherwise the tranny is coming off regardless of the issue.

Yeah it sounds like its more likely the shifter is damaged than the transmission. I'd suggest disconnecting the shifter cables from the transmission like you did when you changed the clutch. See if the shifter moves freely or the transmission once they are no longer connected.
