Bitter: I have no idea how to install an oil pressure gauge It's really easy, you don't even need to install one. Just see of a local auto parts store has a loan-a-tool oil pressure gauge. You take out the electric pressure switch and thread in the gauge hose and connect it to the gauge, start the car, let it idle and heat up and see where the oil pressure is. Not hard. -------------------- |

They (mechanic) checked the pressure and said it was really low. I'm going ahead with the oil pump replacement. Sadly I can't get the parts from 1sttoyotaparts.com anymore as they don't ship internationally anymore apparently.

That's why they sent out an e-mail about buying from another, associated website if you're in Canada. Also, the link is on the front page if you visit 1sttoyotaparts.com.
Prices are the same. Goofy part is that Toyota Parts Canada is, according to the website, headquartered in...Pennsylvania. |

ah crap. i recall that email but i hadn't ordered anything from them in years so i didn't pay much attention to it.
![]() Sigh... Too late now! The part probably arrives today so the car is going in tomorrow. Think I've decided that with my new baby here, it is time to part with the Celica. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Sep 12, 2013 - 11:24 AM -------------------- ![]() |

Oil pump replacement is basically all of the work of a timing belt job, and removing the oil pan (you may not have to, but it may leak afterward if you don't.) Once you have the timing belt off, the oil pump is only a few more bolts worth of work. The oil pan only needs to come off because the bottom part of the pump seals to the pan so it may leak after. With step-by-step directions from the BGB (can be found at celicatech) you could change an oil pump in a weekend. The crankshaft pulley bolt is a little tricky but there are ways to get it off without air tools.

Perhaps, but I don't have the time (2 month old baby) to dedicate an entire weekend to it, the space or all the tools.
I just bought an 09 Santa Fe Limited (family car!) and the plan is to polish up the Celi and sell it privately. There may be some parts listed for sale on here in the near future. This post has been edited by Sinyk: Sep 16, 2013 - 11:39 AM -------------------- ![]() |
