That they only come on when the engine is on. Not in ignition because I dont want any power drain on start up.

Could always wire them to trigger on with the side-marker lights.

Or better, delay circuit wired to ignition.

Could always wire them to trigger on with the side-marker lights. I would rather they just come on when the engine is on. To the ACC then. Or better, delay circuit wired to ignition. ACC? Delay circuit sounds good but delay from what? In ignition? Would rather keep it simple and attach it to a source which turns on when the alternator is on such as power steering or something. |

Just go with the cigarette lighter as a trigger if you want them on all the time when the car is on.

ACC also know as auxiliary.
![]() With a circuit it will work this way. Turn key to ignition and start engine, circuit receives signal and countdown begins, DRL start after a set time, maybe 10 seconds. I don't see what the big deal is with them being on while cranking. I've got a big audio system and crank it all the time with it on. A DRL won't be that hard on it. And it will be easy to wire. -------------------- |

I have the tiniest battery ever and it provides just enough amps to crank it over and power the clock at the same time
![]() ACC was what I was avoiding. I was told to use alt wire to switch relay? |

When the key is turned to "ON", the entire vehicle receives power.
When the key is turned to "START", only the starter, ecu and distributor recieve power. Thus, nothing should be draining your battery while you are starting the car. But the timer idea sounds like a feasible option. You could build one using a 555 timer, a couple counter ICs and a transistor. |

Radio loses power during crank...I think. Wire it to that.
I don't see the issue though, DLRs are like what 16watts? That's like 2.6amps for both tops. Edit: Special Eddy- All the lights stay on. At least in the '95 they did. My radio is the only thing that shuts off that I know of. But then again its not like I sit there and hold in on start for a minute so I'm not really sure ![]() This post has been edited by travisxcore: Sep 17, 2013 - 11:50 AM |

One of the wires (can't remember which pin) in the diagnostic port only goes live when the engine is running.
Then you can make your own relay (or just buy a universal DRL kit) and tap into this wire to trigger it to supply power from the battery to the lights. I bought this kit (Source) and installed it to my GT-Four when I imported it. If he's using LED DLR's the power draw will be menial though. Hell, even halogen DLR's wouldn't be that bad. Though if you could find the wire that azian spoke of that'd be ideal. Use that to power a relay to turn the DLR's on and off.

Sounds like a good plan Azian.
If I have any of my lights, radio, dash light on or use the window, heater or anything. My car will not start. This post has been edited by yellowchinaman: Sep 17, 2013 - 2:53 PM |

What about getting the power from one of the fans or cruise control, just an idea don't really know for sure, but they should only get power when engines running no?

They're not constant though, especially the fans. Finding the wire that azian mentioned to tap into will be ideal.
