On the Megan coilovers the spring rates are too harsh for the streets I'm thinking of upgrading to swift can anyone recommend a certain spring rate for front and rear?

Coilovers? Or lowering springs? The coilover it has 32 levels of dampening or the ez with 15 levels. I've tried the sofest before and it's pretty soft. Almost soft like stock.s

yea, have you adjusted the struts to soften them up? i find the spring rates quite soft, with mine set on like 10-12 clicks from the hardest setting, i find it almost compareable to stock, and definetly softer than the eibach springs and kyb struts i had before.
im sure if you call or email megan they will tell you what the spring rate of the coilover springs are, then use that to get a softer set of swift springs if your really sure the springs are your issue.
do you have any other suspension mods like sway bars? i've found that sway bars really stiffen things up alot more than you'd expect.

he does have the coilover. the regular and first megan coilover that came out for our car. that has the maroon colored top mounts and what not.the spring rates for these are quite stiff for daily at 10k and 8k rear... right.

Even if he does. Maybe he just didn't know there's damper levels? Levels are 1-32, 1 being "S" which is soft and 32 being "H" which is the stiffest. Mine is set at 24 but that's because I'm riding low and like to ride stiff and not bottom out.

Dampening is really low... It's actually the springs that are too stiff I can order swift springs and combine it with the coil it all depends now on a good spring rate for our cars. Depending on motion ratio

Excellent. How about I trade you for a super soft Eibach Sportline and GR-2 setup? You won't know the difference and I'll just relieve you of those pesky hard coilovers. Who needs adjusting anyway, that's just more work!

I don't think you can actually change the springs on the Megan coilover with another one. If you want a softer ride you might as well go the Honda route and buy a sleeve and an aftermarket strut. Ride bouncy. Lol.

yes you can change the springs. check on swift springs online I see people set up swift springs on megan coilovers all the time.
my question is what would be a nice spring rate for the front and rear?

You can swap springs on any coilover. All you need is a couple of specs for the spring manufacturer to follow. After that, you need to correctly set the spring preload on them in order for the coilover dampers to function as they were designed.

Try 7kg-6kg front and 4kg rear spring rates, that's what the new megan coilovers come with and that's what BC Racing uses on the ST204/AT200 coilovers.

sorry, just wanted to make sure it wasn't an adjustment or other mod issue.
swift springs are interchangeable with the megan ones, so like i said earlier, i would either call or email megan, find out what they're spring rates are (or just use the figures syaoran quoted above), then call or email swift and consult with them on what your needs are and i'm sure they will be more than willing to suggest something that would work for your needs.

that's part of the beauty of the megan coilovers, IMO, is that they are so adjustable, and the springs are interchangeable with popular spring manufacturers springs.

You could call Megan about the possibility of getting the springs from their EZ Street series, as the spring rates are a lot softer.

The rates on the EZ Streets are 6kg F/4kg R

So it'd be about the same as BC Racing.

THANK YOU!!!! FINALLY SOME GOOD INFORMTATION THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
ive been trying and trying to figure out whats a good rate for the streets cuz my car over steers so much thanks to the stupid stiff springs in the rear and it understeers cuz the stupid stiff springs in the front so u can imagine how bad it handles... I need the spring rate of the rear to be in the front.

The EZ Street springs should be ideal, since they're obviously meant for the street and not the track. Now hopefully Megan was universal on all of their stuff and you can just swap springs.

Megan Street Series apparently use springs with the same dimensions as Swift springs' coilover springs which is kinda cool. As long as they're the same length I'd be down to doing the swap if I needed it.

@OP: definitely get 6kg/4kg springs. The older megan coils were 10kg/8kg iirc, and the valving code for the shock absorbers is the same for both new and old, so I guess they simply reduced the spring rates on the newer versions because of them being too stiff for the shocks to handle.

K-sport and D2 use 7.5kg front and I believe 4kg rear as well. If you're going to be adding a heavier engine like a 3SGTE or turbocharging your current one, I'd go for the 7.5kg. Otherwise, go 6kg.

That won't be any heavier than the 5S, so I say go 6/4 kg.

From: http://www.meganracing.com/product_detail....18&catid=31

SPRING RATES:
F: 62mm ID; 200mm length; 6 kg/mm
R: 62mm ID; 220mm length; 4 kg/mm

If you use the correct conversion factor of 25.4mm in an inch, you get 7.87" front and 8.66" in the rear for the length.
If you use 25mm in an inch, you get 8" front and 8.8" rear (closer to a 9" long spring)

Also swift coilover springs are 60mm vs 62mm for the Megan springs. You need to double check that fitment again.
