neon in trunk Options

There is not a lot of light in the hatch. there is only that small light on the left side that does pretty much nothing. so i was thinking i want to mount a neon on the cover thing..preferably one of those that are able to beat to the music (for my subs). so how would i go about doing this? do i just splice into the little light on the left side? anyone put neons in their trunk? ty.
