Sorry guys for the downtime, but it looks like everything is going to be ok. Downtime today has been caused by a hard drive randomly dying on one of my host's servers.

Initially, this is the message that I got from my host.
QUOTE
The server ZION was upgraded this weekend successfully, as all servers across the board were. This is not the problem nor is this announcement related. Getting to the point, we have just got confirming reports that a significant hard disk error has occurred on this server. We have the server up and attempting to restore data, but I will be honest... this doesn't look good for data recovery. We have every system administrator on this case as well as system recovery specialists to try and see what went wrong.

We will be attempting for the next few hours to restore data. If this fails, we will be restoring access to accounts on another server, but I have to be up-front with you... the account restoration will be a fresh one (that is, if this recovery doesn't look good). That means, if you have not made any backups to your site, the odds of data recovery is slim.

I was quite freaked out and frantically have been at work since, but I just read an update saying that all data has been recovered. Programs such as GD and Imagemagick, the two things used to resize images, are still down, so photo uploads most likely will not work until later tonight, or maybe tomorrow.

Also, if you come across anything suspiscious, such as missing images, missing posts, any errors, or anything of the sort, please post them here and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for your guys' support. This shouldn't ever happen again.

Sincerely,
Christian Coomer

Yeah, I don't think it'll happen again. I've had two other sites hosted with them on seperate servers for over a year each, and I haven't had a single problem, nor has anyone I've talked to. And now the company is hard at work installing a better backup system on the server, plus I plan to keep my own backups every week from now on, just to be sure. smile.gif

I do now. I didn't have any backups of the new code that powers the site, because I worked on all of it remotely on the server and didn't think to make a backup.
