Hey guys i have an automatic shift knob and you should have to press in the button in order to change gears, mine doesn't work for some reason, the button goes in and out like it should. but i never have to depress the button in order to change gears. Does anyone know what goes out in these that make it do that?

Does anyone know what goes out in these that make it do that? There is a number of things it could be electrical or mechanical. Mechanically it could be shift lock solenoid. Electrically it could be any of these fuses, doubt they would be bad but check them cause they power into your shift lock control: 15A Cig & Rad, 15A ECU & IG, 15A Stop, all of which would be on your drivers side interior panel. Past that point you could be looking at an ECU or grounding issue. Start with the fuses, then check if the solenoid is bad, hopefully thats as far as you would have to go with it. -------------------- 1997 ST:Limitedly Green
