no.

That and any roll cage that you can "buy off the shelf" isn't worth its salt.

talk to a local shop and have one fabricated if you want one. Safest and best way. Just remember if you cage a car you're going to want a helmet.
Banging your head against a cage during a collision= no bueno

ninja edit: I guess I should say that cusco made one and it was available through bulletproofautomotive...

I'm caging mine, definitely gonna have race seats with the proper harness, it will be a daily after all, I don't want to drive around town with a helmet. biggrin.gif

seats and harness or not...anyone with mild intelligence on cages in cars will tell you its best to have a helmet.
But then again its your right to not wear one and put a cage in so.....just because you can biggrin.gif

I made my own roll cage, not in a convertible though.......I designed it so that it is far enough out of the way that I don't have to worry about banging my head off it. But another train of thought is that if you are in a crash that's strong enough for you to worry about banging your head off a cage, wouldn't you rather have the cage there for protection?...not much in a car is soft when your in a crash situation! Ideally you don't want to be clattering your head off a solid steel bar, so some cage foam will soon solve that which will be softer than most interior parts in a very sudden stop.

That's what I will be doing, maximizing the clearance, with only a few mm off the car's interior. Foam pads around the steel. I am not the tallest and with the seat harness keeping me from rattling around the car, the chances will be very low in a city based collision, considering the lower speeds.

What you might consider doing is a half-cage so that way you don't lose the streetability, but have added protection. That or a well implemented roll-hoop.

I had a 6 point welded roll cage in my 91 mr2 it was a huge pain. Person before me used it for auto x... It wasn't easy getting in and out of the car because of the bar going about half way up inside passenger and drivers size door at a slant. It was more of a pain than anything... Interior on a 6gc is almost as cramped as a mr2 so I would honestly reconsider. I might have a few pics of my mr2 inside roll cage if so I'll post them.

8 pt roll cage sorry for typo. If you are talking to me I'm 24. I know the infinity basslink in picture looks horrible/wiring does too. I cleaned it all up. I actually had 2 amps installed in the mr2. My Celica is pushing 2 amps currently as well. But the infinity basslink isn't for thump.. It's for clean bass... If that's the reason you asked my age.

No, I am asking because I've had experience with older people complaining about my car being low and hard to get in even tho it's all stock, suspension and seats. Thought that might be the case with the cage too.

I would go for a half cage, b pillar backwards if it's a daily, as mentioned, climbing over the cage is a right pain in the backside, also you will loose the back seats too if it's done correctly. Also the sale value of the car will drop...not many people want a car with a cage in it.

I don't think selling the car is a consideration given all the hard work put into it, I think he's just wanting some extra bracing and safety given it's a convertible with twice the stock power.

Ohh haha. I'm young it was just a pain to get in and out and I'm a smaller guy 5" 8, 160 pounds. Also my mr2 was lowered on H&R springs.

I say go with a well implemented roll-hoop, it'll look factory if done right and you get the added safety and some added stiffness.

I'll spend the money and go to a professional. Would be a shame to do all that work without knowing the welds are properly done.
And I don't have a tube bender.

And none of that dash dodger stuff, the dash will be cut, with firewall tubes added.
