So I installed all new KYB g2 struts with KYB mounts and brand new bump stops and sway bar end links and TRD springs. Everything is 100% new and correct parts. What's happening is the rear strut is moving like pushing threw the mount over any bumps causing a clunk sound. The nut in the rear that's in the middle of strut mount has play over any and all bumps. Like my strut isn't done correctly. The strut assembly is moving. I've replaced everything I can think of I also installed everything correctly... Ive had out the rear struts 3 times. Everything is done right I even have everything torqued to spec. So I'm lost... I didn't get an alignment yet but I honestly font want to drive my car way it is to a shop. I don't want to damage anything. Any ideas before I take it to a shop and pay out 3 arms and 2 legs. Any suggestions or ideas or if anyone else has went thru this help is greatly appreciated. Its also only in the rear. Front are fine I did all 4 at once.

That is weird, unless the rear struts are defective. RocketScott on here currently had an issue with one of the front struts giving out like that and punching a dome into his hood.

That wouldn't have anything to do with with it.

ya those springs don't drop that low anyway. best to take it to a professional. perhaps you didn't tighten the top nut on the top mount hard enough, causing it to pop through.

Are you sure you lined the top cap up properly with the strut top piston? It should slide down about an inch on the piston.

The strut will depress if not lined up, allowing you to still tighten it down without noticing it is out of line.

I've done this once, and it made a lot of noise.

Yeah everything is lined up. New mount and strut has a flat spot so you must line it up. If not you couldn't get mount onto strut.

Did you put the spacer back in?

I'll try to find a picture.

I have the sports suspension package if that makes a difference. I don't think I had that part to begin with honestly. I took off everything and reinstalled everything part by part. All I had was strut nut followed by strut mount, bump stop and dust cover than spring. I didn't have any spacer nut/washer. My old struts didn't make any noise. My front where bad so I just replaced all 4 and did new mounts and TRD springs.

Damn.

Done my rears 3 times now, and never really noticed that spacer. I assume I've always put it back, cause it always been good in the rear.

let us know how it goes when you get it situated, now I'm curious.

Haha. Well I'll hopefully do it this weekend. I realized why I threw it away I figured my new mounts would have them... Well I was wrong haha. The new front mounts came with bearing tho. Haha thanks again and I'll let you know.

I think I have a spare set of those if you need them. IIRC they were cheap and I just ordered another pair when I ordered all the other parts from Toyota.

Yeah I don't know where I put mine or if you could give me the measurements I can grab basically the same thing at Lowes. I'm just not sure how wide it is.

yep, just did mine a couple of weeks ago but had an experienced friend there to help me. The new kit won't come with the spacer and you need to reuse them.
One of my rear top nuts was so rusted we had to cut it off yet not get deep enough into it to ruin the spacer.
