So guys,

I've got a weird issue with my car that I've never experienced before. I was out and about - normal business - I hadn't taken my car anywhere I haven't taken her a thousand times before. I'm parallel parking when I hear an unsettling clunk from the passenger side. My first thought is maybe tie rods or ball joint. Luckily I have a friend with me, so I get out and have him crank the wheel left and right while I peek in the wheel well. Everything was fine with the tie rods and ball joint.... so I shift my eyes up and my spring is rotating, or rather, hopping when the wheel is turned. It hops about 10-15 degrees within the circle of the shock perch.
What could randomly cause this to happen? I understand a big bump in the road or something foreign to the car like that, but as I said, nowhere I haven't driven my car a thousand times. I'm going to rent a set of spring compressors so I can investigate a little more clearly but I wanted to see what you all thought, too.

A note, it seems to happen on the road, too. I can turn left fine, but if I turn too far to the right, I hear the clunk and the spring hopping like that throws my alignment off and she starts pulling right. As soon as I crank hard enough left, the spring seats properly again and my alignment is restored. This is the weirdest thing...
