Hello All! I'm excited to announce that I too will be joining the small percentage of 3sgte swapped Celica's. I purchased my 3sgte engine clip yesterday "Friday", and will receive it this coming Wednesday. I'll start my swap the last week of January due to accrued vacation that I've earned at work. In my short time on 6gc I've spent my time reading up on similar swaps so that I could learn as much as possible. I don't think i'll be able to be up in running in two days like some of the gear-heads on this site, but I certainly hope that I have the privilege to post, and work with some of the masterminds that make this site so great.

The Car:

94 Celica GT. Currently with 224,000 miles on it. The 5s still runs like a top, but I originally purchased this car to complete a 3sgte swap. I was given the privilege of driving a JDM 3rd Gen Celica RC (right hand drive...the whole 9), and I've been in love since then.

I've owned two integra's. One GS-R, and the other a GS. I learned to love Honda, but have come to realize that Toyota is WAY better. I love my car and can't wait to get started.

I'll start updates and pics as soon as I get my clip.

Please feel free...I value your feedback, and understand that I know a fraction of the information that some of the great minds on this site know!

Very nice, Ben - looks better and better each time.

Did you finish putting in the new valve springs?

It was cracked everywhere and the grill was busted. There was no turning back. Would have made a terrible ss4 conversion.

Does the new wastegate location sit lower then top of the fenders to be able to clear a stock hood, or does the wastegate sit above the top if the fender?

The gt4 hood obviously allows you more space tho with the rise in the hood, just wondering cuz I know for instance my stock hood is very tight with my IC piping.

Jeez, after all that effort to avoid that fate, I'm sorry to hear it.

So, new gasket and a throttle body cleaning while it's off I guess.

A few quick questions...I'm sure I'm not the only one exploring this option here...

I'm getting a 4th gen manifold to put on my 3rd gen. The guys is including the 4th gen throttle body and iac etc.

What are my options as far as getting this to work? I'm running factory 3rd gen ecu. I also have no interest in modifying the manifold to work with a 3rd gen throttle body.

Is the 4th gen IACV plug and play, if not what needs to be done to get it to work?
Do 4th gen injectors work with 3rd gen electronics? Are the connectors the same? Are they the same impedance, or will I have to adapt my 3rd gen injectors and fuel rail to work with the manifold.
Has anyone ever blocked off the IACV and removed it entirely? If so, will this cause a check engine light? Will the car perform terribly until warm?
Anything else that you can think of that I haven't thought of that might throw a wrench in my plans?

Injector information and maybe some helpful additional information:
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=67576

http://www.gt4dc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6831

In general i would search that forum for information.

The 4th gen injectors are high impedance, 3rd gen are low impedance. If you want to use the 4th gen injectors and 3rd gen ECU, simply bypass the injector resistor box. I would use the 4th gen injectors and fuel rail.

For the IACV, if you use the 3rd gen ECU and the 4th gen IACV, you will need to send the pin RSO to ground, not to the RSO pin of the ECU as the 4th gen IACV do not act the same as the 3rd gen one. Maybe you can swap the 4th gen IACV for the 3rd gen one, don't know.

Could you give me more detail on using the 4th gen IACV? I get the part about changing the RSO pin to ground, but what do you do with the wire left over from the ECU? Do you ground that too?

I think I made a mistake. On the gen4 wiring, the IACV RSC pin is sent to ground (pin #3 on the IACV connector (brown wire)). The RSO pin (pin #1 on the IACV connector (black wire)) goes to the ECU. On the 4th gen ECU, it goes to pin #18 of the 31 pins ECU connector. On the gen3 ECU, the RSO pin is pin #10 of the 26 pins ECU connector.

So basically all I need to do is ground the RSC wire to the intake manifold ground and call it a day?

I'm down. My girlfriend's trying to get me to come home sooner though cuz SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin is happening next weekend.

Cars & Coffee was cold this morning. -__- Not as massive as I was used to back home, but not a bad turn out. I was like, "Where the Supras?" lol
